Obama Touts Wall St. Changes On Lehman Anniversary

BEN FELLER NEW YORK – President Barack Obama sternly warned Wall Street Monday against returning to the sort of reckless and unchecked behavior that threatened the nation with a second Great Depression.

Even as he noted the U.S. economy and financial system were pulling out of a downward spiral, Obama warned financial titans on the first anniversary of the Lehman Brothers collapse that they could not count on any more bailouts.

He credited his administration and the $787 billion stimulus package rammed through Congress in the first days of his taking office for pulling the country back from the brink.

"We can be confident that the storms of the past two years are beginning to break," he said.

And even as the economy begins a "return to normalcy," Obama said, "normalcy cannot lead to complacency."

Nevertheless, Obama said, "Instead of learning the lessons of Lehman and the crisis from which we are still recovering, they are choosing to ignore them."

His tough message warned the financial community to "hear my words: We will not go back to the days of reckless behavior and unchecked excess at the heart of this crisis, where too many were motivated only by the appetite for quick kills and bloated bonuses."

everything about this guy reeks of death and destruction. To wit: he pimps his national day of service during the 9/11 memorial; he dares to speak to the Street on the anniversary of one of the most terrible days/weeks/months in history -- now we know that all those unemployed Lehman people are as sick of him as all the 9/11 survivors are -- and then of course there's his abortion record, the deathcare/healthcare thing, being punished with a baby, etc.

Yeah, he's giving off really creepy vibes, this guy.

Even as he noted the U.S. economy and financial system were pulling out of a downward spiral, Obama...

Really obama, they why is unemployment still trending up, and higher than when you took office? I seem to remember you using unemployment as a justification for raming through porkus - promising that without it, unemployment would top 9%, but with your porkus, it would stay in the 8% range. Well obozo, it is 9.7% and your porkus is a fiasco.

He credited his administration and the $787 billion stimulus package rammed through Congress in the first days of his taking office for pulling the country back from the brink.

obama is an a##. Porkus will do nothing but promote big government and socialist redistribution of wealth. How can obama seriously claim porkus is working when companies are still going out of business at record rates, unemployment is rising, and oh by the way, something like less than 10% of porkus has actually been spent. obama, porkus is an epic fail, just like your entire tax-cheating administration. The economy is continuing to circle the drain and you have no idea what to do other than push more socialism at us. obama, you are the worst President in the history of this Country.
