Electorate remains uncertain about the choices for governor

TOPICS: News/Current Events; Politics/Elections; US: New Jersey
KEYWORDS: christie; corzine; elections; newjersey
From the article:

"As New Jersey’s gubernatorial campaign season kicks into high gear, Republican challenger Chris Christie maintains his months-long lead over Democratic incumbent Jon Corzine. However, the gap has narrowed somewhat since the last Monmouth University/Gannett New Jersey Poll. Among likely voters, Christie now holds an 8 point advantage over Corzine – 47% to 39% – with 5% for independent Chris Daggett. While this is similar to the Republican’s lead in July, it is down from the 14 point advantage he held in August, when Christie led Corzine by 50% to 36%."

This similar to Rasmussen data from last week.

It would embarrassing if there are ACORN sting tapes filed in Jersey. :)

I don’t trust NJ voters enough to have a comfort zone about that election. I still have the nagging gut feeling Corzine is somehow going to pull that one out.

We met a LOT of ticked-off NJ residents at Saturday’s march and rally in DC. Get out the vote, New Jersey!

That corzine is doing as well as he is shows how low we have sunk IMO. Would be pretty sad to think his slimy ads trying to turn Christie into GWB would work. But then this is the state that elected Louse-enberg to the Senate even after he said he opposed the death penalty for terrorists.

Corzine has a substantial lead in the key “Dead for 5 - 50 years” demographic, as well as “Recently Deceased”.

Any bets on the number of Black Panthers providing “security” at the polls for Corzine?

“I still have the nagging gut feeling Corzine is somehow going to pull that one out.”

I respectfully disagree, Corzine is loathed in NJ, he’s doing poorly with his base and he’s getting crushed with Independents. If Corzine was not as despised as he is I would agree with you, but fortunately for us he’s a pariah. Go Chris Christie and Bob McDonnell!!!

I’m waiting for the Torricelli/Lautenberg switcheroo move with Codey.

Codey would probably beat Christie. He would definitely beat Corzine if there was a dem primary.

And that’s why I expect him to be the pinch hitter. Nothing is more important to Democrats that retaining power. That the corpse of Frank Lautenberg was willing to take one for the party to save Torricelli’s seat is evidence of that.
