SANTA CRUZ Staff and supporters of the UC-Santa Cruz Arboretum are bracing for cuts, including the director's salary, as the university looks to trim costs in the wake of reduced money from the state.
Alison Galloway, vice provost and dean of academic affairs at the University of California-Santa Cruz, said there are no plans to close the cherished 100-acre garden and research center or cut its hours. She declined to discuss financial details until she meets with the garden's staff next week.

Outside the military, government employees at every level not only lost all connection to reality, they completely forgot who they work for.
The big question is, when is government at all levels going to be downsized, when are their salaries, benefits and lottery style retirement pensions going to be dramatically slashed and reduced?
I think it would be safe to say that virtually every California state employee salary exceeds that which is received by comparable administrators in other states by a significant amount.
Public university drones and other government parasites need their pay and benefits slashed. They’re using the power of the state to steal from people who actually go out and create value. A secure job ought to be a low-paying job; reward the entrepreneurial.
...these colleges have million/billion dollar budgets and tell us that they’re starved for money...
My wife went to UCSC. Beautiful campus, but a hotbed of lefties.
