Amen.
Bless you, dear.
I'm too tired to post much more at the moment, but I - and everyone we met at the 9/12 Tea Party - still have the same lingering question:
Does anyone know what the official turnout / count was for this event? Do the DC Police provide the "official" count?
We've heard everything from 60,000 to 2 million. I think it was around 1 million... my husband estimates it was around 400,000. Does anyone know?
“I observed on one of the drums belonging to the marines now raising, there was painted a Rattle-Snake, with this modest motto under it, ‘Don’t tread on me.’ As I know it is the custom to have some device on the arms of every country, I supposed this may have been intended for the arms of America.”
This anonymous writer, having “nothing to do with public affairs” and “in order to divert an idle hour,” speculated on why a snake might be chosen as a symbol for America.
First, it occurred to him that “the Rattle-Snake is found in no other quarter of the world besides America.”
The rattlesnake also has sharp eyes, and “may therefore be esteemed an emblem of vigilance.” Furthermore,
“She never begins an attack, nor, when once engaged, ever surrenders: She is therefore an emblem of magnanimity and true courage. ... she never wounds ‘till she has generously given notice, even to her enemy, and cautioned him against the danger of treading on her.”
Finally,
“I confess I was wholly at a loss what to make of the rattles, ‘till I went back and counted them and found them just thirteen, exactly the number of the Colonies united in America; and I recollected too that this was the only part of the Snake which increased in numbers. ...
“’Tis curious and amazing to observe how distinct and independent of each other the rattles of this animal are, and yet how firmly they are united together, so as never to be separated but by breaking them to pieces. One of those rattles singly, is incapable of producing sound, but the ringing of thirteen together, is sufficient to alarm the boldest man living.”

Many scholars now agree that this “American Guesser” was Benjamin Franklin.

YES! You've described it perfectly! I'm getting goosebumps all over again, just thinking about it... :o)
Nope! Clean as a whistle.

You can watch it now on your computer at the C-Span website.
MLK the Communist? What?
That is beautiful. Real Americans in the capitol.
What a wonderful story, Sharon.
This is the sort of heartwarming story that we once saw printed in our mainstream newspapers, or the Reader’s Digest. It makes your heart swell with pride just to read something like this.
You’re right that Obama and his minions need to pay close attention to what most Americans are feeling (and doing!). The tide has turned, and it is building into a tsunami of patriotic demand to return our country to its constitutional basics.
Great post.
Yeah.....
Where is all of the wall-to-wall coverage of the million-plus Obots we KNOW must have been at the Capitol today? Hmmmm?
A conservative is someone who doesn't give up rights for any man, group, cause, or religion.
A conservative fights against those powers who would strip us of those rights and therefore our freedom and liberty.
"Nope! Clean as a whistle."
I'd be willing to bet that the Mall was left clean after each Republican president's inauguration, too.
I'll never forget the photos of all the trash that the Obots left behind in the wake of Zero's inauguration. It's an iconic image, I think, and was very prescient.
My husband and I were there. We drove all night to make sure we were there at 8:30 am when the festivities began and can’t tell you how proud and happy we are. I have never been in such a large crowd of some of the nicest people we have ever met.
This goes down as one of the best things we have ever been involved in and we thank everyone who was there!
