On Saturday, tens of thousands of protesters thronged to the U.S. Capitol to angrily accuse President Obama of taking the country in the wrong direction.
A day later, in the shadow of the Washington Monument, many participants at a much smaller gathering -- the 24th annual Black Family Reunion -- said the level of hostility toward the nation's first African American president had little to do with policy differences over health care or taxes and everything to do with race.
"It' s not conducive to the coalitions we need to build in this country," said Vera Hope, 60, of Mount Rainier as she left a booth promoting health prevention. "I'm disgusted and upset by the hostility. Let's call it was it is -- it's just a disguise for right-wing racists. They are fomenting a climate of violence to provoke people."
From its inception, the two-day event has focused on healing and uplifting black families. This year's theme was "Renewing, Reviving and Reconnecting the Family Community." It featured musical performances, health screenings and motivational speakers.
Although less animated than Saturday's protesters at the Capitol, the reunion participants were just as heartfelt as they talked about the change they want for America.(continued)

Nope, we’re even more hostile to Pelosi who won’t even consider taking the “public option” out of the legislation.
It really does have nothing to do with race.
Oy Vey. Now we can’t criticize Obama because he’s black. More proof that multiculturalsim is a dumb idea.
Geeez! Are these idiots stupid or what? We’re only criticizing his white half!
It looks like the race card is starting to break down, and good riddance. Look at the punishment-worthy tirade of Serena Williams at the U.S. Open and Kanye dissing the blond Taylor Swift at the MTV awards this evening because Taylor defeated Beyonce.
These people are behaving badly, and the rest of us are beginning to tire of it.
That's all they have?
I wasn't at the march, but I wish I could have been.
And she needs to try and call me a racist to my face with the African-American foster daughter near by. Because that would be the END of her hate filled rhetoric. My foster daughter would make sure of that!
Calling people racist for protesting the federal government, what a lame *ss statement.
Check out how that side cheats...
Here’s a video of ACORN trying to set up a photo op to make the tea party people look like members of militias... Janet Napolitano said to watch for people with “don’t tread on me” flags. So ACORN had some made up to distribute free. My guess is they might have had an “in” with CNN to make the tea party people look more extreme than they are - but didn’t get the picture. Here’s the link:

How can you tell if someone is a racist judging people by skin color?
They’re white.
” ...Vera Hope, 60, of Mount Rainier as she left a booth promoting health prevention.”
Guess anyone promoting health prevention would see a policy dispute as racist.
That race card is getting mighty tattered, eh folks?
Obama’s problem is not the color of his skin but the doggie doo inside his cranium.
And what do they label the Black hostility towards George W. Bush these past 8 yars?
Sorry, but just because B HO is mulatto doesn’t preclude him from criticism.
Perhaps those crying racism today should remember their own treatment of Condolezza Rice, Michael Steele, Star Parker and even Colin Powell before he climbed back on the plantation.
What’s “extreme” or “racist” about Revolutionary War-era “Don’t Tread On Me” flags?! Geez, I quickly tire of this sh*t!! Every person in this country, blacks especially, should jump out of bed and kiss the ground and thank God that they live in the United States!! And if they don’t feel that way, they should get the f**& out!! I’m sure if we took up a collection we could help everyone that wants to leave buy a boat ticket!
“It’ s not conducive to the coalitions we need to build in this country,”
“Coalition” means we all give up our principles and surrender to communists.
Boy I can tell just how racist a country we are by watching pro football on t.v. today. Especially my Cowboys vs. the Bucs. I mean really, what’s up with all those white folks cheering on all those black folks. Uh huh, right.
And his white communist advisors, professors, political mentors and family members. All whites. All communists.
Exactly!
But and it's a big one "but" - the left has decided to use this wonderful symbol against us. My feeling is like yours - HOW DARE THEY... How dare Janet Napolitano decide that some Americans are extremest because of that flag.
But that's what she's done - and that's why ACORN was passing them out. Once we get this word out - and the video out - the NEXT tea party should be FLOODED with "Don't Tread on ME" signs. In their face. We are proud.
For now though - we have to expose ACORN and what they were doing. Pass the word on. They must NOT play us against each other. All of us on our side are on the right side. It's not for them to decided who's OK and who's not OK...
Bull S&^*@
People who don’t know history and don’t care to know think that all white people are exactly the same. They have no idea that the English oppressed the Irish for 800 years, worse on balance than the 400 years of American slavery. They made war on the Scots and Welsh working classes as well, and spatted with the French for centuries, as did the Germans with the French, Dutch, et cetera. Italians warred with central and eastern Europeans, who warred among themselves. Yet all these groups came to the U.S. and got with the ideals of the melting pot. Each contributed remarkably to the culture. Whites don’t go around speaking Celtic or expecting to wear dyrndls or clan colors in school. American unity has been what is important to whites, despite their own racial divisions between Picts, Celts, Gauls, Flemish, Angles, Saxons, Normans, Vikings and the many other ethnicities found among white-skinned peoples.
