“True in Los Angeles when they get into an accident the first thing
they do is run because the leave the title in the last owners name.”
Absolutely true.
In the fall of 1995 I was standing in line at the Cloverfield DMV
office in West Los Angeles to register my car and get a California
Drivers License.
With the lengthy wait in the Workers’ Paradise of Mexifornia and
the understandable boredom...the guy in front of me says he’s there
to get plates for his new car.
Because “some undocumented alien” totalled his car by rear-ending
his vehicle on one of So-Cal’s freeways.
He said, “all I saw was the blur of the b@$tard running like h-ll
from the accident scene”.
I had to waste a week of my life (while starting a new job) because the
DMV flip-flopped and made me take a Drivers test (due to some lawsuit
the DMV got hit with) and trying to get my ancient Chevy inspected by
the CHIPs to assure them that my car wasn’t stolen.
(I could barely contain myself from saying “DO YOU REALLY THINK A
CAR THIEF WOULD GO AFTER THIS PIECE OF GM JUNK?)
Ah, the joys of one-party rule.
