Most of the Mussolini fans of the 1920s didn't really want a dictatorship in America, and any fair reader of Thomas Friedman's oeuvre knows that he doesn't want an authoritarian government here either; the word limit of his column apparently left him no space to regret the Chinese one-party autocracy's Internet censorship, forced sterilizations, imprisonment of political dissenters, and the like.

Thomas Friedman, "Janet Reno for President," shows that column was no fluke, continuing his multi-decade run of proving that no-nothing pomposity pays.

Somewhat unusual in that being “a Communist nutjob” is not his worst quality.

I’m sick of these so-called journalists. Why don’t they go live in their favorite countries and get the hell out of ours. Let’s see if they can practice their trade over there.

If the US had a ‘one party autocracy’ headed by a conservative leader with free market ideals and limited government beliefs, Thomas Friedman would be screaming from the top of his lungs that the US needs more political choices.

China has been good to Tommy Friedman, and his Bethesda MD mansion has raised eyebrows, mainly because it such an monumental and shameless hypocrisy:

Hot, Flat, and Crowded
Why We Need a Green Revolution - And How it Can Renew America

Thomas L. Friedman's no. 1 bestseller The World Is Flat has helped millions of readers to see globalization in a new way. Now Friedman brings a fresh outlook to the crises of destabilizing climate change and rising competition for energy—both of which could poison our world if we do not act quickly and collectively. His argument speaks to all of us who are concerned about the state of America in the global future.

i have always said that Friedman made a fortune stating the obvious - which turned out to be wrong half the time. if you compare his columns on the Middle East over the years to Krauthammer’s, it is staggering how much shrewder, prescient and ultimately right Krauthammer has been.

And they'd be happy to forget about elections and two-term limits if they could just have their strong -man.

Friedman's two books:

1. The World is Flat.

2. Hot, Flat, and Crowded.

Does he really believe the world is flat? If not, what is he saying?
