Obama says status quo no solution on health care

MINNEAPOLIS — President Barack Obama assailed critics of his health care initiative Saturday, seeking to grab the megaphone from his opponents and boost momentum in his drive for congressional passage of his chief domestic priority.

"I will not accept the status quo. Not this time. Not now," the president told an estimated 15,000 people during a rally that had every feel of a campaign event, right down to chants of "Fired up, ready to go!" and "Yes, we can!"

Days after urging Democrats and Republicans in Congress to come together, an invigorated Obama said his plan incorporates ideas from those on both sides and he promised to continue to seek common ground.

"If you come to me with a serious set of proposals, I will be there to listen. My door is always open," the president said.

But he warned that he wouldn't waste time with people who have decided "that it's better politics to kill this plan than improve it." He also said he wouldn't stand by while special interests "use the same old tactics to keep things exactly the way they are." And he warned, "If you misrepresent what's in the plan, we will call you out."

The pitch came in friendly territory. Democratic-leaning Minnesota is one of the nation's healthiest states, with relatively few uninsured residents, cost-effective medical care and top health care providers such as the Mayo Clinic.

His speech at the Target Center was part of a weekend campaign by the White House to give the president as much exposure as possible after his prime-time address Wednesday to Congress.

No 'status quo' has been offered. . .another way to craft a perception of crisis.

You can see Obama clearly working his way to 'save the nation'. And again his incredible narcissim by his reminding America that if plan fails; he will be held accountable - this from a man who has never admitted a failure; nor has he ever paid the price for one.

And should he; how sincere would be Obama's mea culpa; when it is the citizenry; that pays the highest price for his agenda.

If such a great plan; then let Obama and Congress get on board this train - FIRST. Only then; when it crashes; will he regret it.

Obama needs to get off the campaign stump. He is still running!

If he wants to be the President of the US he should lead on behalf of the American people. But instead he is out on his campaign stump.

He is a failure and his plan is a failure.

He wants to avoid debate and jam it down our ass before anybody can see anytype of detail.

He is trying to be an Autocratic Dictator instead of a President who build consenus.

MR OBAMA. STOP RUNNING AND START LEADING.

Agree on all your points/sigh. . . Like Obama himself; many in the Obama constituency - including MSM - believe his substance and leadership are embedded in his oratory; that Obama only has to 'speak'- and it would/could/should be done in his name.

That said; am of the mind; that every good citizen; every town, city. ..our Military, our nation; and the 'WORLD' - including the sick and infirm; et al (Obama's narcississm includes many in his sphere of power) would be in far, far finer shape wihout Obama's influence; without his leadership oratory; and certainly without his presidency.

Most unfortunate for all concerned; that it is not otherwise. . .
