I'm not talking about parents having influence in school, as in being heard and considered, interested and helpful. I am talking about them having slots on the actual board deciding personnel matters, spending, curriculum, etc.

As a teacher, I once had a conference with a parent whose child was flunking English-8th grade. He shrugged and said"I flunked English, and it ain't never hurt me none." This parent should sit on the decision making board? LOL

Don’t laugh. He’s probably already President of the Board of his community organization and getting several hundred million of the stimulus money without strings.
