That was 4 years ago. Yes, a major mistake in an otherwise totally consistent commitment to conservative principles. His intent was good, but he let himself be rushed into pushing a badly flawed idea by people like the Club for Growth. It was not thought through, and he knows it. The thing about him is that he listens. And he got an earful. He won’t make that same mistake again.
As for FreedomWorks, they may have been the organizers of this rally, but if they think they can control the movement, rofl. This is its own life form, and FreedomWorks will call the shots about as successfully as the Weather Channel can dictate to a tsunami when and where it will hit.

They would not have put as much money and effort into this rally and movement if they didn't think they could steer it in the direction they wanted it to go or at least have some input.
FreedomWorks may be a non-profit, but they are very well organized and have some large donors and corporations behind them. They are putting their resources into this movement because they believe they or their donors will get something out of it, not because it makes them feel good about themselves.
I'll eat my words and acknowledge it as having its own life, when the tea party folks organize a protest on their own without some group like FreedomWorks laying the foundation.
