Conservatives Gather in Capitol( Now that's a Headline;)

Critics of Obama Policies, Energized by Town-Hall Meetings, Will March Saturday

Conservative activists from around the country are gathering in Washington on Saturday, seeking to continue their momentum in shaping the national debate on everything from health care to White House staffing.

The demonstrators, who plan to march up Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol, are drawing their passion not from Bush-era fights over terrorism or gay marriage, but rather from Reagan-era debates over big government programs. The event comes on the heels of antitax events, dubbed tea parties, in April, and a series of congressional town-hall meetings nationwide last month that elicited angry criticism of health-care proposals favored by President Barack Obama and his Democratic allies.

"I can't figure out to save me what[Mr. Obama and the Democrats] are trying to accomplish, unless they want socialism," said 73-year-old Joseph Wright, a retired paper-mill worker. Mr. Wright rode from Tallahassee, Fla., to Washington this week on one of the many chartered buses bringing in demonstrators from states as far-flung as Massachusetts and Arkansas.

Saturday's rally comes just a few months after Mr. Obama's victory seemed to have left the conservative movement in disarray. But in recent weeks, critics of the administration's programs and spending have succeeded in putting Mr. Obama on the defensive, threatening his health-care drive, prompting parents to boycott a routine presidential speech to schoolchildren and forcing the resignation of a White House adviser with a left-leaning past.

While the movement has gotten considerable attention, it is unclear just how broad it is. Both conservatives and liberals Friday tried to manage expectations, hoping to claim a surprisingly high or low turnout after the event.

White House officials on Friday professed to know nothing of the planned demonstrations. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs queried reporters about the planners and their issues."I don't know who the group is,"

Let's see...It is front page news on the most watched news network in the country...The Wall Street Journal is writing stories about it...Dem “leadership” are making estimates of the number of people that will attend...and Gibbs pulls a Sergeant Schultz...

I know nothing! NOTHING!!!

This just gets better and better!!!

I am in DC for the Tea Party and the Freeper Convention. Every where I go tonight around Pentagon City I run into Tea Party folks and Freepers. On the Metro, on the Hotel shuttle, in the Mall, etc.

Tomorrow is going to be exciting. Hopefully, we will get 100’s of thousands of real patriots!

We’re the reason Obama called a joint session of Congress.

Funny stuff. As Rommel said to Hitler after General Eisenhower landed troops on Normandy: I don’t know who this group is, but we’ll clear them out in a few hours.

The false King, obuma, is a dead duck.

“...on one of the many chartered buses...”

I bet Sarah Palin is shipping them all in! /s

The longer the Liberals “don’t get it” is fine by me.

It is not “some group”, it is “The People” as you rightly say. Small groups that have chipped in to charter a bus. Folks that have the time but can’t afford it, but getting friends to chip in for some of the expenses. And another thing they don’t get, and hopefully they won’t until it’s too late - IT’s NOT ABOUT TAXES!

I believe you're right. That the White House Press secretary would profess to know nothing of the planned event tells me they're scared spitless. It's a patently absurd assertion and obvious lie. Yet they figure it's preferable to be seen as lying buffoons than to acknowledge dissent. Unbelievable.
