There were a couple of things that threw up red flags for me.

First, the ownership percentages looked wrong. Though combining the UAW with the US Government does get you over the 50% mark (actually the UAW owns over 50%). When I read it before, I was in a big hurry, and it appeared to me to suggest that the government alone had a controlling interest. I knew that was absolutely wrong.

The second thing that didn’t pass the smell test was the entire concept that car dealers contributed to the Obama campaign. I was in the car business through September of 2008 (as a parts department manager). I know several dealers personally, and know of several dozen more through various industry connections. I don't know (or even know of) a single dealer who would have donated to Barrack Obama’s campaign. That part just sounded entirely wrong. In my experience, if only Obama contributors were allowed to keep their Chrysler dealership franchises, there would be fewer than a dozen Chrysler dealerships in the entire country today.
