Obama Administration: US Has Overinvested In Oil, Gas (BARF!)

WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- The Obama administration opened a new front in its effort to impose $31.5 billion in taxes on oil and gas companies, saying that the nation puts too much emphasis on oil and gas at the expense of other industries.

The chief economist in the Obama administration's Treasury Department testified before a Senate panel that current subsidies "lead to overinvestment" in the oil and gas industry. That went beyond previous statements about the need to protect taxpayers and was the clearest signal yet that the federal government hopes to end its role in nurturing domestic oil and gas production.

A $31.5 BILLION tax on gas companies? Are they insane? Do they want to kill jobs and drive these companies out of our country?

WHAT ABOUT ENERGY INDEPENDENCE?

You simply don’t understand the Obama agenda, comrade. The US must be destroyed before a socialist utopia can be erected on its remains.

Does that include the $2 billion that Obama gave his buddy Soros on the Petrobras deal in Brazil?

Yes, yes and yes.

WHAT ABOUT ENERGY INDEPENDENCE?

They don't give a rat's rear end, as is obvious from their actions.

All they want is total control, comrade.

If we've "over-invested" in oil, how is it possible that we import MOST of what we use ?

This is another Obummer horsepuckey argument to promote facism one step at a time.

Whatever it takes to raise the price of energy and further depress free markets, is what the Neocoms will do. 0 hates America.

The Obama administration just gave Brazil 2 billion dollars in a grant to drill for off shore oil.

This is just more Bravo Sierra marxist drivel in their attempt to destroy the free market, fundamental republican principle, and our soveriegnty.

We have more oil and gas reserves than anywhere on earth, when you take into consideration the new fields off our coasts, more in Alaska, the fields under the Dakotas and the oil shales in the Rocky Mountains.

We need to be inversting more, not less.

But that would make us energy independent, and prosperous, two things the Obama administration is working hard to prevent.

Oh geez. No wonder. Dude is completely divorced from reality, and helping to run Treasury. I just looked this guy up.

"Alan B. Krueger is co-author with David Card of "Myth and Measurement." Somehow in this book, they manage to throw overboard the law of supply and demand, to reach the conclusion that "the claim, that a higher minimum wage cuts jobs, lacks support." At one point, they report among a number of "main empirical findings" :

Increases in the minimum wage also generate a "ripple effect", leading to pay raises for workers who previously earned wages above the minimum wage.

"It is difficult to understand how Card and Krueger can even be considered economists with such beliefs. If one does not believe in the law of supply and demand for the labor market, can one believe in the law of supply and demand, at all, for any market?..."

Then why did the President send $2 Billion to Brazil for their oil exploration? Oh I forgot......Soros invested over $200 Million in that company before the President sent all our money over there. Silly me!

Obama you hypocrit! Just 2-3 weeks ago you authorized a few billion to Brazilian state run oil companies and you have the unmitigated gall to complain about our country and oil and gas use and want to tax (punish) oil companies????

I guess he's going to send all that tax money he collects from our own oil companies and give it to Brazil.

I have to stop before I get Free Republic in trouble.

"WHAT ABOUT ENERGY INDEPENDENCE?

What was the department of energy created by JIMMAH CARTER for on August 4, 1977?

Hmmmmmmm let me think, hmmmmmmmm oh yeah, now I remember, it was created by the DEMOCRATS to reduce our dependance on foreign oil.

Hey Zero, I can find 24 BILLION for your new tax right here, right now. ABOLISH THE DEPARTMENT of ENERGY completely and you will free up 24 BILLION, yes I said 24 BILLION dollars to offset any tax on the oil companies.

It is costing the US taxpayers 24 BILLION dollars for the government to operate the department of energy to do nothing to reduce our dependance on foreign oil.

That will just give incentive to move more of the production out of the country. Why bother refining gasoline here and be taxed when you can just import already refined gasoline and not "overinvest". Thus we will be even more beholden to foreign oil companies.

It would probably be simpler and ultimately less destructive to this country if Obama were to just nuke a few US cities than by tearing us down piece by piece.

There’s a national security element to this as well.

The largest user of petroleum fuels and lubricants is ...

The United States Military.

Now, I think that the Pres__ent and his administration know this. I think that they are trying to weaken our military as well with this. We will be dependent on foreigners (many of whom don’t like us) for fuel for our defenses.

Drill here, drill now, drill for security
