Collumb's varied resume ranged from Westminster official to substitute teacher
The 911 call about a house fire came about 2:20 a.m. Wednesday.
Plano Fire Capt. Peggy Harrell said the dispatcher asked whether everyone had gotten out of the house, and the caller said he was on his way.
Pete Collumb never made it.
The 67-year-old died of smoke inhalation, according to authorities. Harrell said an investigation is under way to determine the cause of the fire that destroyed the home in the 3400 block of Mission Ridge Road.
Collumb was beloved by neighbors, adored by school children, and relied upon by Republican politicians at the highest levels of government.
A self-described behind-the-scenes guy for GOP campaigns, Collumb worked on the staffs of Gov. Bill Clements and U.S. Sen. John Tower. He ran for office in 1982, unsuccessfully challenging U.S. Rep. Ralph Hall.

Was he a witness in some law suit? If it was a hit, it’s supposed to send a message to the Republicans, to scare them. Only God (and the Devil) knows who would be behind it. A fire would burn a lot of records, too.
