The copy of the birth certificate on the internet certainly has merit as to its authenticity. As a data processing specialist who did a lot of work retrofitting year 2000 software in the banking industry, I find it interesting that the certificate formats the year as yyyy instead of the two digit year we were accustomed to. This may, however, have been the norm in Kenya at the time of his birth.

What Smith has is a hospital certificate and not a government issued certificate. I have no idea if that makes a difference. Also this copy was issued in 2009.

But it is most likely because Smith's "Kenyan Birth Certificate" is as fake as a Chinese Rolex.
