Wait, so the harvester of green shoots that become crops has to lay off people?

Is there something I’m missing here?

But it’s all OK because Deere has about 50,000 employees. Therefore, the stimulus is working.

Thank Obama that all those other jobs were saved. We need to kiss the ground Obama walks on for allowing the other people to still be employed.

Add these 367 to the 300 that lost their jobs when Seaford Clothing shut its doors this August in Rock Island which abuts Moline.

Deere lays of 367 at Harvester Works - qctimes.com

That's 667 jobs gone, a real blow for the Quad Cities economy.

I think they're both union shops. Deere has always been for its blue collar workers.

There was a list where a lot of stimulus money (in the millions) was allocated to Moline a few months ago, don't know where I saw it now.

The midwest must be cutting back severely on large equipment purchases, because our little corner of the world has a new tractor/combine/sprayer/cotton picker in almost every field. Heaven knows my family is doing its part to support the green and yellow.
