Possibly the worst headline choice of the year, lol.

I’ve heard that it is rare that black cats are adopted, old taboos about unlucky symbols still are in society’s subconscious.

I think that’s true. It’s unfortunate. I have a black cat and he is the sweetest thing ever. Very gentle, appreciative, and loyal.

Sounds more like a dog. ;-)

I miss my black cat...she was low maintenance. I need to constantly defur myself of my white cat which ends up all over my clothes.

lol...someone post the "That's Racist" kid.
fwiw, I have an adopted black rabbit. His name is Benjamin and he is a great pet. He's smart and well-trained. He can be a bit of a rascal, but hey, that's just him being a rabbit.
All my pets are adopted.

I always thought the Save the Polar bear campaign was racist.
There’s about 30,000 of them, while there’s only about 700 Black Sun Bears in the world!

This close to Halloween? Wow. I know they don't adopt out black cats around Halloween in our area.

I rescued a Black Cat last winter. My rule was it had to go into a no-kill facility. Last I heard it was adopted by nice family about 15 miles where I live.

The point is, Chris, that all other colored animals get adopted first. Black cats and dogs get put down far more frequently. This was a good thing that these people are doing.

It’s not just your area. Shelters don’t adopt out any black cats around Halloween. Some really sick individuals out there.

I rescued a Black Lab Mix over 5 years ago. He's alive and doing well. I also have a Lab Husky mix. I cannot have more than 2 dogs in my area without special permit. Also two dogs are more than a handful. I'd rescue more if I could.
I've done my part.

We adopted two cats, one male, one female, from the same litter. Both solid black, even their whiskers.
Just adopted a dog this past January. He’s a mutt, all black except for a thin line of white on his chest in the shape of a “T”.
No problem (except for the shedding) - love ‘em all.

Dang, you beat me to the punch line on that one, I had to think about it and then decided not to go there, LOL!
To: thefactor
No. As opposed to buying them retail. There are plenty of worthy pets out there that need homes without creating more demand for retail pets.
