WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States on Wednesday formally cut off $11 million in aid to Honduras in response to the June 28 military coup that ousted the elected president of the poor Central American nation.
The decision was taken by the board of the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), which aids countries with a track record of sound governance and economic policy and is headed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The State Department announced last week that it was terminating more than $30 million in non-humanitarian aid to Honduras, including the $11 million from the MCC, to pressure the de facto government to step down and reinstate exiled President Manuel Zelaya.

Insanity.
Dear Honduras,
We are sorry that some of citizens voted in a LIAR and a Stateist for President. Better luck next time with the $$$$.

Submit to the boot of sociopathic Strong Men or be screwed by the U.S. — Hillary
Hopefully Honduras can and will shrug it off. Freedom is worth more than our increasingly worthless taxdollars.
Yep - on top of everything else this effectively shuts down the Honduran drug interdiction program. Stand by for lots of Cocaine coming in. Should see a drop in street prices soon. Probably will stimulate the economy.

This is truly a disgrace.
ARGH
Obozo has to stand by his Marxist brother Zelaya. If manipulation of the constitution doesn’t work in Honduras, it sure as hell won’t work here in America. BO needs Zelaya to succeed with doing away with presidential term limits.
I would love to see freedom loving US citizens, stick it O and make up the deficit with donations. From REAL Americans!
Anyone know of such a fund?
Good, they should immediately go to China for aid.
God bless you Honduras....God bless you....
STUPID MEDIA
IT WAS NOT A COUP.
The candidate ran unconstitutionally for the office, and the court warned him of that, so after he was elected they refused to accept him under the law.
NOT a Coup.
shuts down the Honduran drug interdiction program
That was the point. Hell, this whole thing could be a setup.
One multi billion conservative company could make this donation at the drop of a hat. F/U to the UN and the left wing of the US.
Can we start a freepathon for Honduras?
It is sad to see how low this once great nation has stooped. There is very little doubt in my mind that the Anointed One has delusions of grandeur hoping and entertaining the vision that some day he could be the next US-Hugo Chavez. What a pity ..That is my take Saint Germaine
