I would agree with one small exception. A revolution could nullify everything. It would probably be the only chance by that point.

As a poster earlier in the thread said, the Dems will be screaming "The dirty GOP wants to take away your healthcare so you die in the streets!!1!" from here to eternity. It's naive to believe that there will be any serious effort to remove government healthcare at that point. It will be the new third rail of politics.

Look at SSI. Everybody my age (Gen X) knows it's going to be broke soon. Hell, just about everyone in the whole country recognizes that. Did that help GWB when he floated the trial balloon of reform? Nope, he got sniped at so bad he had to stick his head back in the foxhole. SSI (along with all other big government giveaways) will have to completely implode. They are all doomed.

You mentioned GWB attempt to fix Social Security. The entity I worked for was a part of the plan he was trying to get. We as an entity oped out of Social Security, no longer paid for it nor were we a part of it. We as a company paid a % of our salaries into a private pension plan which was matched by our company dollar for dollar. GWB could get no one to even look at it. Today I am retired and draw a monthly check out of my company pension plan and receive more per month then if I would have paid into SS all those years. If SS goes broke it will not affect me. I will still get my pention. However, I do care about everyone else. I also got a paid up Health Insurance policy from my company when I retired. GWB invited my boss to come to Washington to speak to everyone about the idea. My boss did go and the U know whos would not listen. I just wanted U to know there are a lot of ways to skin a cat and not have something shoved down your face.
