Iranian authorities have arrested two top aides of opposition leaders amid a fresh crackdown on groups protesting the re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, reformist websites reported.
Alireza Behesti, a senior aide of the main opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi, and Morteza Alviri, former Tehran mayor and top aide of the reformist Mehdi Karroubi, were arrested over the past two days, mowjcamp.com reported.
Another reformist website, Norooznews, reported that authorities had sealed the office of prominent dissident Emadeddin Baghi's group, the Society to Defend Prisoners' Rights, an established non-governmental organisation.
It said that property was also confiscated during the raid.
Behesti, who recently said that 72 people were killed during the unrest which erupted after the re-election of Ahmadinejad, was arrested on Tuesday after his office too was raided on Monday, mowjcamp said.
His office followed up the cases of those detained or injured in the post-election unrest. Iranian officials say about 30 people died in the unrest.
On Tuesday, Iranian authorities shut down the office of Karroubi himself and detained the chief editor of his Etemad Melli party's website.

On AntiMullah.com, Multilingual section there is a list of some SEVEN HUNDRED names o fthose who were killed in the protests.
To put this into focus there were over FIVE THOUSAND protesters arrested by a variety of “enforcement” groups so 700 fatalities (at least that many identified by name) is not unrealistic considering the brutality with which prisoners were treated.
Some student organizations are claiming an even higher number of their “colleagues” having died.
As far as these events are concerned they are internicine jockeying for power among the Mullahs. Information has been flooding in but the Obama stories have pushed them off the news page on antiMullah.
AntiMullah, which was formed to oppose the Mullah regime in islamic iran, increasingly finds itself opposing the Obama administration as not only does Obama visibly support the Mullahs, overtly support Communism but worst of all destroying America - step by step - as did Khomeini in Iran when he took over.
Ergo, the appellation of Oba-Hussein-Khomeini.
Thus they would also be careful not to provide the real and very high mortality figures of deaths - that would be spitting into the wind. And they all plan to be around.
In the early going, some of us stayed on Twitter and practically slept there 24/7. I was PaxIrana. When our information started to dry up and our people were moving from place to place, we chewed our fingernails to the nubbins and kept tweeting and searching for our people. Some faded in then out again. Some never came back. We know they were arrested.
Finally, there was silence. Nothing we did could help because bam refused to even give them moral/verbal support.
When the basiji were beating and maiming, we were trying to tell them how to protect themselves. We did all we could. We kept every channel open just in case.
In my heart, I know we tried. But it wasn’t enough. I cannot forgive this administration for what it has done to them, and I will NEVER forgive what it is doing to our own troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. And NEVER forgive what he is doing to this country.
Amen. Sending this to my ping list
