Pennsylvania: Pittsburgh Attacking the Second Amendment in Preparation of Next Month’s G-20 Summit!

Tuesday, September 08, 2009

Please Contact Your Local Officials!

Tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., the Pittsburgh City Council will consider an ordinance that attempts to undermine our Second Amendment rights by targeting so-called “assault weapons.”

This poorly written and misguided proposal is being labeled as an effort to help create a secure environment for next month’s G-20 Summit, even though the City Council has allocated $16 million for security and accepted $14.3 million in federal and state aid for such purposes.  Make no mistake - this is a back door attempt at an illegal gun ban.  Pennsylvania’s preemption statutes outlaws localities from enacting firearm laws more strict than state law.

Please contact Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and the City Council TODAY and respectfully urge them to oppose this illegal, unjust, and ill-conceived attack on our Right to Keep and Bear Arms.  The Mayor can be reached by phone at
412-255-2626 or email
askpgh@city.pittsburgh.pa.us.  Contact information for the City Council can be found below.

Another thread reported an additional 1 million firearms purchased for the month of August.

Just keep flailing away, surrender-liberals.

Now this is something sneaky for sure. My sister in Pgh. said that for weeks the media has broadcasted local government requests for everyone to stay home during the G12 and/or not come to/go through the downtown area! In addition, several roads and bridges will be almost endlessly blocked, making travel to and from the city almost impossible. So why the gun ban now? Seems the officials want to make the city into a ghost town anyway.

Makes me recall the final scenes from a "Few Good Men."

Lt. Kaffe, "Why did you want to transfer Santiago?"
Col. Jessup, "Because I thought he might have been in danger."
Kaffee, "Grave Danger?"
Jessup, "What other kind of danger is there?"
Kaffe, "Sir, you said when you give an order, it is followed. You said your men always follow orders...."
Jessup, "Right."
Kaffe, "So, if you gave an order not to Code Red Santiago, and if your men never disobey an order; why would it be necessary to transfer Santiago? Was he in danger? "I believe you said...he might be in Grave danger, didn't you, Sir?"

Well, the city is *technically* a ghetto-ghost town right now. They’re just trying to squeeze out every last drop of people so that they can meet their idiotic budgets.

I wonder if 579 is going to be shut down. I take that bridge every morning.

I kind of suspected something like this would happen in light of that G20 summit that, according to most liberals, will bask the City of Pittsburgh in the State Run Media’s warm spotlight thus bringing people from far and wide to experience the liberal bliss that is ...... Pittsburgh! What’s funny is that none of these idiots that scream about how great a summit like the G20 is for the area can remember where the last one was held!!!

Hmm, the sky outside doesn't look as dark and smoky as in your cam photo.

Looks like 579 will be open. I'd imagine that the 7th & 9th St bridges will be closed.

That may not hurt traffic too, too badly. Then again, if an ant farts in Pittsburgh, traffic comes to a standstill.

I guess it depends on Grant Street. If they block traffic heading out Grant, (past the Federal Building etc) there is no way to get to the Strip without going out Bigelow Blvd. and back tracking. Even if they allow traffic on Grant, with Penn, Liberty & the 10St. Bypass closed, it will push a hell of a lot more traffic onto Grant which will be a mass.

My plan on how to survive the G20??? ... Stay outside the Orange Belt. ;~))
