NO. Registration ALWAYS preceeds CONFISCATION.

Here in Mich. to conceal, or to open-carry, the firearm must be “checked” by your local LEO.
I just took one in today that I’ve had for almost 30 years.
I want to carry it, and so now, it’s on their books.

I know that your post applies to Mich. only but do you realize that yours is the first relevant and useful post to that question I was asking, no body else (that posted on it) seemed to even get the question, all they heard was “registration”.

I agree. I tried a KelTec and didn’t like it. I bought a Bersa. I like my Bersa .380 so much I bought a Bersa hi cap 9mm. I’ve only put 400 rounds through it but it worked well from the first round and the more I shoot it the better I like it.

The only thing I don’t like about Bersa is their mags are so expensive.

Actually, I really can’t understand the ramifications of your question, since I don’t know what state you’re in or it’s registration laws. So my answer was in the context of an assumed optional registration requirement, which is somewhat implied in your question ( that you have a choice). That being the case, I was advising to come down on NOT registering, if that’s a choice. In TX, there is no registration of firearms.

That’s why I bought and carry a North American Arms .22 Mag Mini Revolver. It’s a 5 shot that is small and light enough that when it’s 110 degrees here and I’m wearing short pants and a T-shirt I can put it in my pocket and nobody knows.

It is so light and small I’m never tempted to leave the house without it. I put it in my pocket when I pick up my car keys. And I can bust a cap on a thug before he knows I’m strapped.

People make fun of my .22 Mag. But the first rule of gunfighting is to bring a gun. I’m never tempted to leave it home because “I’m just going to the gas station”.

It comes in 2 sizes. I bought the big one because the small one didn’t feel right to me.

I like those a lot and agree with you about a gun on your person is better than the one at home.

It was a four shot .22 derringer that made me miss Woodstock.

My concealed carry guns are all store bought and proper. There’s no reason to use a questionable gun in a defensive situation where I don’t know it’s lineage.

Massod Ayoob’s book, “In the Gravest Extreme” has a section on defensive guns.

Forget the really cool “grim reaper” grips on your concealed carry.

No reloads. Don’t give a prosecutor a chance to say you made some copkiller ammo.

Don’t deactivate any of the safety devices on your concealed carry. I’m guilty of that but I don’t use the gun for my defensive situations. It’s one of my play toys.

At one time, it was common for cops to cut away the front of the trigger guard on small revolvers. Luckily, that practice has been outdated. Thankfully.

One last thing. If you have a long barreled shotgun and a hacksaw, don’t even think about it.

“...first relevant and useful post...”

Yeah, I got that.
It’s important to have a known firearm here if you are to carry it.
The Sheriff didn’t bat an eye when I told them that the S&W 39-2 was given to me by my Bro.
Things would get very nasty if I never let them know that I had it, and to use it here in a bad situation.
I took my Mich. CPL class a week ago, today.
I’m not about to jump through all of these hoops, only to get my carry-rights negated because of a bone-headed error on my part.

I worry about compliance as well, I’m not as pure and clean as many of the republicans here being as my Texan blood has always run towards an adventurous life, I was very happy to get a CCL although it took special effort from me and for the renewal as well, I got red flagged both times.

I don’t want to lose my CCL for something stupid, Shooter 2.5 and you probably have the right idea.

Just memorize the places you can’t go and don’t go there. I noticed if my driving habits were to change if I have a gun in the car, I was doing something wrong in the first place.

Massaged this item at the local Cabela’s last week. Very slim and concealable...like it better than the pudgy Glock 26..plus the trigger guard as the magazine release was inventive. Comparably, the Beretta Px4 Storm Sub-compact also knocked my socks off with it’s ergonomics. The whole drought of .380 ammo is a serious concern.
