Too late for Obama to turn it around?
Salon ^ | Sept. 9, 2009 | Camille Paglia

Posted on 09/08/2009 8:05:53 PM PDT by AtlasStalled

They see no danger in expanding government authority and intrusive, wasteful bureaucracy. * * * Affluent middle-class Democrats now seem to be complacently servile toward authority and automatically believe everything party leaders tell them. Why? Is it because the new professional class is a glossy product of generically institutionalized learning? Independent thought and logical analysis of argument are no longer taught. Elite education in the U.S. has become a frenetic assembly line of competitive college application to schools where ideological brainwashing is so pandemic that it's invisible. The top schools, from the Ivy League on down, promote "critical thinking," which sounds good but is in fact just a style of rote regurgitation of hackneyed approved terms ("racism, sexism, homophobia") when confronted with any social issue. The Democratic brain has been marinating so long in those clichés that it's positively pickled.

They have the press and the vote-cheat apparatus in their pocket. They are always confident they will win. They are the system.

They forget that what takes sinful man years to build, God can utterly destroy overnight.

Read Psalm 2. They plot in vain....

Why has the Democratic Party become so arrogantly detached from ordinary Americans?

Because they know better. If you don't believe me, just ask them.

The big reason in my mind is that there is no democratic party. It died a few years ago. Oh, there is a party with a name, “democratic party”, but it really is the communist party. They are even acting as if they have a true communist system today, acting with one-party-rule operatives. Note Clinton’s recent advice to Obama to forget the Republicans. I know this, as that is how they operate here in Massachusetts. And MA is just a “proving ground” for what is on its way nationally.

Because far too many of them are abject marxist ideologues and don't care what what we middle class bourgeois think-whom they want to pull down, or what their proletariat constituency think-whom they want to keep in their place.

Camille is no Dem. She is an Independent.

She is Often Wrong, but she does reflect a lot of the independents.

I wish she could get her head out of her rear sometimes, but she does make professional Lib women think

“They are even acting as if they have a true communist system today, acting with one-party-rule operatives. Note Clinton’s recent advice to Obama to forget the Republicans.”

In the past twenty years, we have used Senate reconciliation, aka the nuclear option, aka forget the other party, 10 times. The Dems have used it once. We should be patient before saying the Republican party is the party of bipartisanship and the Dems are the one party rule types.

This article is actually entitled “Too late for Obama to turn it around?”

When you insert your own title, you mess up the search function for the Forum.

This is an excellent article except for the obligatory attack on Republicans, who aren’t even relevant to the debate. I have more respect for genuine, pro-American leftists than I do for leftist elitist snobs.

Sadly and overtly true.
