Obama Meets With Leading Democrats to Plan Strategy

WASHINGTON — Democratic Congressional leaders voiced optimism Tuesday afternoon after meeting with President Obama to plot strategy on health care legislation, while a key Democratic senator wooed Republicans with a compromise plan a day before the president’s address to the nation.

“We’re ready to do health care reform, keeping in mind that even before the August recess, 80 percent of health care is already done,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada said...

When the president delivers his speech Wednesday night, “the American people will be able to put aside some of the ridiculous falsehoods that have been perpetrated and focus on what we’re going to do that’s positive for this country,” Mr. Reid said.

Ms. Pelosi said she still believed that a public insurance option will be necessary for any bill to pass the House, and Mr. Reid said he would work to get “a public option or something like a public option” as well.

But despite the Democratic leaders’ remarks, the political reality seems to be that the more liberal House will not pass a health care bill without a public insurance option — while the Senate will not pass one with it...

I see they are all trying to push the "falsehood" meme. Must be in their talking points because BO is saying this, too.

“Mr. Reid said he would work to get “a public option or something like a public option” as well.”

Well, that firm statement should rally his team!

Maybe time has arrived for John McCain to reach accross the aisle and be part of a compromise.

This is just a ruse to be able to say "we offered compromise" right before they pass this alone.

How stupid do they think we are?

Harry Reid couldn't woo a cat in heat if you doused him in Hai Karate.

They think we are pretty stupid. They haven’t caught on yet about people being able to get information, such as the text of proposed legislation, from the Internet. (Notice that Baucus has NOT posted his “compromise.” Maybe they are catching on.) They will call the “public option” something else, and then try to pass it. But what ever they call it, they will be setting up some kind of a publicly funded system that competes against private enterprise and can tap the taxpayers in order to compete. If you want some laughs, read the stories about Baucus’ plan in which he says “we will raise fees on the providers, but not individuals.”

"The Baucus plan, circulating among some committee members of both parties, would also offer the option of lower-cost insurance, with protection only against the costs of catastrophic illnesses, to those 25 and younger. In addition, it would provide basic Medicaid coverage to millions of low-income people who are currently ineligible for the program, but the benefits would be less comprehensive than standard Medicaid."

I know his plan also talks about a fine and fees on medical companies, but the above doesn't sound too bad.

These traitors are playing it to the hilt, knowing that all they have to do is get their slimy little webbed feet in the door.
