Van Jones, Patriot

It makes me sad and a little sick that Van Jones, the White House Green Jobs Czar, was forced to resign after being targeted by a vicious smear campaign. The Obama administration lost a brilliant mind who worked day and night to, as Van would say, "get the greenest solutions to the poorest people". Indeed, Van did as much as anyone to put the concept of the Green Collar Economy on the map, including publishing a best-selling book with that title. More than that, he was one of the nation's most pragmatic environmental visionaries, someone who was always thinking up practical, pattern-changing solutions to massive climate problems.

Van grew up in a small town in Tennessee, went to a provincial college, and wound up graduating from Yale Law School, launching a number of important nonprofit organizations, and winning way too many awards to count, including being named to Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People list. He's a remarkable American success story, eloquently captured in Elizabeth Kolbert's New Yorker profile.

I tried to get 15 minutes with Van on every trip to DC because I always knew I'd learn something. He was generous enough to fit me in even though he was going 100 MPH for 12 hours every day doing the work of the country. Every time I saw him he was a model of patience and pragmatism, adroitly sidestepping the petty politics of DC and advancing America's energy and employment agenda.

--snip--

Any company would want Van as its chief executive officer, any church would want him as a bishop. I felt proud as an American to have him running the Green Jobs shop for all of us.(continued)

Yes, Van always did as Obama did - worked very hard at taking from the taxpayers and useful idiot Liberal donors to obtain the revenue for his organizing and political schemes.

Van’s “green jobs” was no more about green jobs than is ACORN’s “affordable housing” about affordable housing, or it’s “voter registration” efforts about voter registration. They are all simply tools, artificial means, in a process solely mounted for political organizing - nothing less and nothing of any greater substance to them.

It’s sort of heartening that the comments at WAPO (generally very liberal) are 10 to 1 against this guy, and they seem to be aware of the facts of the case.

"forced to resign"

Palin was not forced to resign. She accomplished in 2 years all she had set out to do in Alaska, plus won against The PowerPlayers & Their MSM Machine.

And they are still afraid of her....;)

Van Jones is inconsequential to the masses.

Well, she said herself that the political bullying and lawsuit terrorism of the liberals made it impossible for her to continue governing.

Well, she said herself that the political bullying and lawsuit terrorism of the liberals made it impossible for her to continue governing.

It did not stop her from accomplishing all the work she had signed on to do as Governor. She had organized a great team while in holding office in Alaska-a bipartisan team. Palin more specifically stated she did not want to cost the Alaskan taxpayer more money on the frivolous charges (all won by her, but would surely continue). She wanted to pay debts brought on her by entrenched enemies. Alaskans respected her for it. Alaskans would become weary of the "invasion", like in any conflict.

I wrote in another piece ( The Untouchables and Blagojevich):

"Capone: I'm gonna tell you something. Somebody messes with me, I'm gonna mess with with him. Somebody steals from me, I'm gonna say you stole. Not talk to him for spitting on the sidewalk. Understand? Now, I have done nothing to harm these people but they are angered with me, so what do they do, doctor up some income tax, for which they have no case. To speak to me like me, no, to harass a peaceful man. I pray to god if I ever had a grievance I'd have a little more self respect. One more thing, you have an all out prize fight, you wait until the fight is over, one guy is left standing. And that's how you know who won."

If you can accomplish all she did for Alaska, as promised, in half the time while taking on a Presidential election, supporting candidates around the country in their own states, gain national "mass" popularity, keep a close family heads held high against vicious/negative attacks by the MSM, make Tina Fey a household name overnight, get Katie Couric an award for "sound bite editing" and take down the scurrying hundreds (like rats)of Democratic lawyers who's job it is just to file papers on "logos" you might be wearing..you just might be a gutsy, winner in the People's Arena not a "loser" or "quitter" as the media would like their audience to believe.

Exactly how many Green Jobs did Van create for the $30 billion in tax money he was given?

I am not clear: I think we will still be paying. Should you hold a Federal government office even for a short time on the Hill. You still retain membership to the Health Club, you still get a pension, ongoing health care, etc? Some of the other perks associated with.

..and for dignity sake, Jones was pretty much fired. A toast was given for appearances, but no one attempted to stop the wheel once it started picking up speed.

Palin was not fired.

The MSM media dosed and scratched itself.

Excellent points. I didn’t meant to compare Palin’s resignation to Jones. I referred to the fact that unlike Jones (who HAS an extremist background), Palin was subject of a vicious smear campaign. Of course it won’t work in stopping her from becoming the force that will unseat the Obozo.
