President Barack Obamas relationship with Speaker Nancy Pelosi, strained by differences over healthcare, will be tested by their talks on Tuesday in advance of his Wednesday night speech to a joint session of Congress.
Pelosi (D-Calif.) has said repeatedly that a strong government-run public option is essential to healthcare reform. Obama, by contrast, says it is just a sliver of reform. Pundits have been parsing how important a sliver is since last month, speculating about whether the president is backing away from the public option to get a reform bill passed.
His enthusiasm for a public option has waned as conservative and centrist Democrats have come out against a large government role.
Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) will confer with Obama on Tuesday at the White House. While Obama administration officials have made various and sometimes contradictory remarks about the public option, Pelosi has been consistent.
A bill without a strong public option will not pass the House, Pelosi said in statement last Thursday. Eliminating the public option would be a major victory for the insurance companies who have rationed care, increased premiums and denied coverage.

Whenever these three get together we’ve got trouble in River City.
Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) will confer with Obama.More like Obama to receive instructions.
Obama is on record wanting the government plan...as is Pelosi. They are desrerately tring to find a way to parse their words so they can pass something...and then morph that into what they want.
But the American people are awake and it is not going to fly. They do not trust either one of these people.

This is all smoke screen and bate and switch.

Bingo.
Can Pelosi go up against a Chicago pol?
Tough one for me to handicap.
This fool just can't understand that most people are quite happy with their coverage and recognize this lie.
Eliminating the public option would be a major victory for the insurance companies who have rationed care, increased premiums and denied coverage.
Because we think Government can do a much BETTER job rationing care, increasing taxes, I mean premiums and denying coverage.
Three of the most evil people in America, in the highest political offices in tbe country, together in one room conspiring to destroy America. God save our country from this immoral, evil reprobates. They are evil to the core. How are people in this country (demoRAT voters) so stupid as to vote for these immoral, evil reprobates???
Nancy knows that if she lets a bill get out of the House without the "public option", she will lose credibility with the Daily KOS base of the party.
Zero is less concerned about Nancy's credibility than he is about getting ANYTHING passed into law that he can claim as a campaign promise delivered. And he knows he can't even do that unless he throws the "public option" option under the bus.
I wonder who will win?
If we're lucky, neither of them will get their way... and just maybe, WE will win next November!
They are blowing out a smoke screen and attempting a bait and switch. They will use wording to make it appear they are at odds...then come up with some "compromise" and hope Americans buy it.
After which they will try and pass the compromise and then proceed to morph the compromise into what they wanted all along.
But that dog is not going to hunt.

Damn!!! That is tooooo freeeakie. I just spewed Dr. Pepper all over the screen.
Obama wears that same tie a lot. I like it but he’s got millions of dollars. Let’s see more variety. Same thing with the suits. Does he wear the same black suit every day?? If I were president I would be more “diverse” with my wardrobe. How about a gray suit, or something with pinstripes? President Reagan and the Bushes were better dressers, IMO.
OK that is my commentary on fashion for today, ha ha.
So...how many times is she gonna jump up and down clapping after every phrase Obama utters at the next joint session?
If both their poll numbers remain weak I think there will be more rifts between 0 and the congressional Dems. I had a feeling eventually there would have to be some kind of break up. I can’t believe with all those big egos on Capitol Hill that they are not envious and resentful on some level that this guy with so little experience who had not paid his dues was able to almost waltz right into the White House. This has to have created some bad feelings. And if he drags them back down to minority status in Congress, look for the battles between them to intensify.
So I was wondering on which one of their strategies will win out.
Will they be pragmatic and get the camels nose in the tent or go for broke?
Your picture really did make me LOL! Good thing I didn’t have anything in my mouth.
