“I do not see how getting kids to focus upon goals and how to attain them is a bad thing.

I don't either.

But first I would want to know exactly whose goals they are
and specifically what they are.

“Create posters of their goals. Posters could be
formatted in quadrants, puzzle pieces, or trails marked
with the following labels: personal, academic, community,
and country.”

Listed are personal , academic, community, and country.

What are the community, and country
goals?
That's what I want to know.

That's what I want to know.

I'll ask my daughter when she gets home if it came up --- I'll then ask her those questions.

I'm not afraid of what she learns in school, I'm really not.

My husband is looking forward to looking through her History text and syllabus. I'm not so sure she is looking forward to him doing that, but she does know that Daddy knows his history and will neither tolerate nor allow revisionism in this house.

Look, I perfectly understand the animosity many have against the public school system, and I am often in agreement. However, I am not and never will be in agreement with those who believe that the entire public school system is evil incarnate. In fact, I believe that people that espouse that position are extremely wrongheaded and do far more damage than good to their own positions.

I pinged wintertime to this post because I am specifically referring to her attitudes in regard to those of us who have chosen public school.
