WHEATON, Minn., Sept. 5 (UPI) -- An altercation over a washer and dryer at a church in Wheaton, Minn., left a 14-month-old girl dead, authorities say.
The Traverse County Sheriff's Office alleges David E. Collins and Darryl G. Kennedy confronted the girl's father, Claude Hankins, at Thy Kingdom Come Church regarding household appliances Hankins received from the church's pastor, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported Friday.
The sheriff's office said Collins allegedly was armed with a baseball bat during Thursday night's incident and while confronting Hankins, the bat struck Hankins' infant daughter.
After Collins and Kennedy left the scene, the unidentified child was taken to a hospital in Fargo, N.D., where she died.
Meanwhile, Collins, 56, and Kennedy, 43, were arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault, authorities said.
"I hope when we get through this terrible tragedy, something is learned," Thy Kingdom Come pastor Danny Barnes told the Star Tribune.
What in the world are those 2 idiots going to “learn” from anything? At their ages they should have already learned many things that would have avoided the tragedy in the first place.
It is probably amazing what those two men did not learn in their lifetimes.
the bat struck the girl?
Visiting Free Republic is similar to standing in a supermarket checkout lane, these days, thanks to Chet 99. He should find another hobby.
the bat struck the girl?
Sure. You know, like the SUV ran the stop sign and hit the child. or The gun fired and the bullet struck the child....
I disagree. Chet illustrates the great level of diversity at FR: Most people are awesome, and some people are Chet!
Just wait until November when the JFK assassination theorists start posting. I’m calling them 11/22 truthers.
WTF??
LOL...so true. I’m waiting to find out that the guy with the baseball bat owned Pit Bulls.
I agree. It was funny the first time, by now it's just disgusting.
How can you *CLAIM* Franken was *ELECTED*? He *STOLE* that election!
RIP for the little one.
Apparently, there was a dispute between the two men about someone owing $20. I am reminded of a case in Australia, where a man beat his brother to death with a tyre lever - because his brother borrowed $20 off him and refused to return it.
