Is it the fizz or the sugar that is the problem?

The article seems to indicate it is the sugar, since drinking lots of fruit juice produces the same results. I wish they would just write the story instead of trying to be sensational.

It doesn’t take a genius to know drinking stuff with lots of sugar in it is bad for you.

The fructose connection is ironic. I remember years ago health food stores were pushing fructose as a substitute for white-sugar becuase it was more natural (and thus better for you.)

Bourbon, did you say bourbon, I love bourbon neat, with a Pepsi chaser (just a small chaster) I read that they interviewed a 100 year old man in some newspaper, you know they ask all the same questions, but this guy said he was told by his old aunt that 1 shot of whiskey a day will lead to a long life, so he started out each day with 1 shot of whiskey...since the age of 17, (he was born before the nanny state). Since I don't want to live to be 100, I make it a shot every other day. So far so good...:O)

"In other news, social security is going bankrupt because people are living too long."

Not really. - Social Security is going bankrupt due to the abortion of over 50 million of our children in the last 35 years.

"Whoops, the article does state that aspartame can lead to fatty liver but I find that somewhat difficult to believe."

True, it'll destroy your brain, nervous system, and vision long before it can get to your liver.

It says TWO soft drinks a day MAY lead to long term liver damage. So, I am thinking that my liver MAY be in great shape, because I drink far more then TWO a day.

Does the UK also use HFCS ?

I don't know, but from looking at all the diclaimers in the rest of the story, I won't be surprised.

Okay, I’m convinced. I’m switching from soft drinks to hard drinks.

I’ve been to a lot of funerals and not many died of liver problems that I knew of. The ones who did were heavy drinkers.

I bet you that Obama’s tax soda idea latches onto this as a valid scientific study.

Kool Aid is just powdered sugar with flavoring.Gatorade is fine, but if you want a drink that is natural and not processed,Black tea you should be drinking.
