Huh. That hadn't even occurred to me. But now that you mention it, yeah. That has to be true.

Oddly enough, that is one of my usual complaints about satire (which I see as related to irony) is that if it is too close to the truth, it loses its effectiveness. My feeling is that if you can't differentiate satire from reality, then it cannot be satire. But it is that element of determining the truth in something.

I think you are correct. You have to be able to see reality/truth.
