Key Democratic Senator Proposes Fee on Insurers for Health Reform (Rats will make you will pay!)

Sen. Max Baucus on Monday pushed a new health care plan including an industry fee to help pay for covering the uninsured as President Obama said insurance companies must share accountability for the troubled system.

The Finance Committee is the last best hope for a bipartisan bill since four of five congressional committees have produced partisan proposals. Baucus, D-Mont., has said he would move forward on his own if there's no agreement by Sept. 15.

Meanwhile, Obama said in a Labor Day speech in Cincinnati that a health insurance system should work as well for all Americans as it does for the insurance industry.

"They should be free to make a profit. But they also have to be fair. They also have to be accountable," the president said. "That's what we're talking about -- security and stability for folks who have health insurance, help for those who don't, coverage they need at a price they can afford, finally bringing costs under control -- that's the reform that's needed."

Baucus, who is chairman of the Finance panel, is part of a six-member bipartisan group trying to craft a bill satisfactory to both parties, and the group is set to meet Tuesday as Congress returns from its August recess and the president prepares for his prime-time speech on Wednesday.

Uhh, let’s see, they’re gonna tax the insurance companies to pay for those who don’t have insurance?
What’s going to stop those companies from raising our rates to pay for that tax?
How “Stupid” do they think we are????

I know several couples who don’t have insurance because they want to spend their money elsewhere. They laugh at us for paying insurance premiums every month. They eat out a lot more than we do.
I am sick to death of these commies in D.C.!

Higher taxes for the insurance companies will mean they pass it to their consumers. It's just the back door way to Obama’s Socialist healthcare.

When will people figure out that corporations do not pay taxes, the consumer pays the tax through the increased price of the product. Geez, it’s not that hard.

Cut the crap and be honest.

Obama NEEDS government health care to conduit money to the government to pay for spending and at the same time make the payers content in doing so.

Fascist to the bone.

How in the Hell can Montanans elect this POS?
The fee is going to get either passed onto the consumer, who'll then opt for the Public Option, or private insurers will go out of business.

KILL THE BILL!

So ... they don't want to tax the recipient of these 'cadillac' health care insurance plans because so many of them are union contracts and that is bad for the Democrats. Now a senior Democrat Senator wants to tax the dispenser of these health insurance contracts, as if it is not the same thing. The end results will be that the insurance will soar in cost and shrink in availability but the Dem.s will be able to look at their supporters and say, "wasn't me, not my fault!"

STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES!

You’re a state off, I am not from his state.
But, I do agree that he is slime. I knew he was slime when he was part of the Clinton bunch. He even double crossed Bill and Hill.
You better believe more of his dirty deals will be outed before they feel they are even with him.
