Morristown New Jersey Tea Party Trip Report

Just got in from the Morristown New Jersey Tea Party Protest so here's a trip report.

We left a little bit early because my Mother was with hubby and I and it was a little hot for her, so we left a little earlier then the scheduled ending event time.

Parking was a little difficult so we had to go to a parking garage, lots of cars going in and license plates from New York and Pennsylvania also. The people were SO nice that we ran into, Conservatives really are a nice bunch of people.

I spoke to someone in security and he said the crowd should be well over 5,000. Bob Grant and Steve Malzberg were due to appear. The security guy told me that earlier in the morning people plastered the entire park with Bob Grant and Steve Malzberg are racist signs. Bob Grant didn't appear, the security guy told me it was because a threat was made to Bob if he showed up, and since Bob is in his 80's, Bob's wife was very concerned about his safety, so he pulled out :(. Steve Malzberg was AWESOME though, he really is 1 of my favorite talk show hosts, Rush is my favorite but Steve is very very close as best conservative talk show host.

I took my camera but forgot to re-charge the batteries, so no pics, but the signs were great, almost all homemade signs, the funniest was a woman whose sign said "my budget is stretched more then Nancy Pelosi's face" ROTFLMAO! I bought a couple of nice t-shirts, I forgot to bring money (I'm so used to using my debit card everywhere) but hubby had exactly $30 on him, so I got 2 t-shirts and they had a car magnet there that said "America was founded by Right-Wing Extremists" and that was $6, so I was $1 short, so THANK YOU to the nice woman who saw me struggling to find change in my handbag and she gave me the $1, she was so sweet.

There were about 6 protesters on the outside of the park, 1 had a sign saying he was homeless, no way was this guy homeless, and he was arguing with a tea party protester and he said "why don't you find me a job" so the lady in front of me waiting for the port-a-potty said "why doesn't he go out and find his own job". The 5 other protesters just continuously walked around the park, 1 guy had a sign that said "Kennedy 80 Healthcare is a right" and then a kid with a sign that said "healthcare for all" and some other nonsense on it, then a woman walking around with a sign that said "Clinton/Gore" LOL.

The speakers were great and there were a few 9/11 tributes, and Steve mentioned Van Jones and all the other Czars and spoke about the left being at war with talk radio, and said there are more of us then there are of them, so we all need to get involved.

We had a great time, and though it was a little difficult for my Mother because of her age, she had a lot of fun. I would definitely bring a few folding chairs the next time because it's a lot of standing and it would've been easier on her if she was able to sit down.

The crowd was a very smart crowd, it was refreshing to talk to people who actually get it.
