My take - The kids are old enough to make a decision on accepting Christ. Mom seems to want to control everything that Johnny does. Good luck to that kid in a couple of years when he is out in the big world and has to make decisions on his own.

Is there a problem with kids being baptized?

Would you have felt the same way had it been a Wiccan service? I think the coach went too far.

“If players want to attend the coach’s church and get baptized, that’s great,” (ACLU lawyer) Friedman said.

Show of hands: Who believes that?

As the father of five born again believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, (ages 34 to 18) I know what decisions my kids would have made and it would have been to stay home. The trip was voluntary.

Your take is fine.
So lets say tomorrow they all started studying the Catechism and became Catholic.
Wouldn’t you be proud?

as a FB coach many years ago, I don't know of any of my players who would have skipped a steak dinner.

“Nobody should push their faith on anybody else,” said Michelle Ammons,

Fortunately or unfortunately, that includes parents whose kids have reached the age of accountability.

We celebrate the Muslim girl who converted to Christianity, despite (probably lethal) parental objections, and fled to Florida from Ohio.

We seethe when an atheist parent goes to court to try to force the ex-spouse to not "force" their Christainity onto the child.

Robert Coffey, said Coach Scott Mooney told him and other players that the Aug. 26 outing would include only a motivational speaker and a free steak dinner.

OTOH, using the school bus; and using false pretenses to get the students aboard is hardly an honest tactic.

Jesus fed the multitude AFTER they came and to hear Him speak, and it was too late & too far for them to leave without a meal; He didn't use the "free meal" to induce them to come and hear Him.
