Developing story in Georgia, where church pastor Jonathan Ayers was shot and killed by undercover narcotics officers during a botched drug sting on Tuesday afternoon. Ayers was not the target of the investigation.
Police were apparently after a woman Ayers had dropped off just prior to stopping at the convenience store where police confronted him. Surveillance video shows a black SUV pulling up to the store, and plain-clothes officers jumping out with their guns drawn before the vehicle has stopped. Ayers' car then backs into the picture, and the officers fire into his car as he drives off. Ayers was shot in the liver, crashed his car a short distance later, and died at the hospital from the bullet wound.
A police spokesperson says the officers identified themselves as they got out of the truck, though even if they did, it isn't difficult to see how someone in Ayers' position might panic when confronted with armed, plain-clothes men who'd just jumped from a black SUV. He had also just returned from getting money from the store's ATM. There were no drugs in Ayers' car.
Ayers leaves behind a wife who is four months pregnant.
fyi
How sad. He was so young. I hope someone gets fired for this and more.
“And, one member of his church speculated on why she was in the vehicle... telling Fox 5 he was the kind of person who would give anyone a ride if they look liked they were in need.”

high time we treated domestic thugs with the same attitude that we deal to foreign thugs...no uniform = no protections...
Another example of this war on drugs being out of control. I don’t care if they arrested 100 people for buying dope, coke or crack. If one innocent persons life like Reverend Ayers has to pay for it, it’s not worth the cost for a victimless crime such as doing drugs.
redundant banglist ping...
Innocent life lost? No news here!
At least they didn’t shoot his dog, so his widow has that...
38 stories, mostly short and repeating the same 'facts'...
cops were after the woman...exited car and was picked up elsewhere...
followed him to the store...so he was an 'UNknown person of interest'...
wanted to 'talk to him'...yeah right...thats why they rolled up in a full 'take down' approach...
apparently was shot for his quick reaction to avoiding a violent assault...ie throwin the car in reverse...
cops were in full cya mode with lies...prolly till the video surfaced, then finally confessed to being the shooters...
evidently, simply being an acquaintance of a hooker or dealer is now punishable by death if you resist interrogation...
either that or they thought they had her pimp or 'big fish' dealer that deserved shootin... a simple run of his info wouldve been too much trouble when theres a war to fight...
did I mention how much this story has pissed me off ???

You’d better report to the authorities and get your attitude adjusted before you do something that might annoy our Guardians.
You don’t want to annoy the Guardians, unless you’re into “suicide by cop”.
Absolutely -- we all know that marijuana would do a lot more damage to a person than a bullet will.
Holy cow, was the police vehicle was the 4 door pick up? In no way whatsoever does that look like an official government vehicle! I’d run too!
I have been trained not to make distinctions...
foreign vs domestic, uniformed vs no uniforms, real badge vs phony badge...
If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you,
it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun.
14th Dalai Lama
I try to be a reasonable person.
Our "Guardians" may want to get a little counseling, consider what country they are in, study our founding documents more deeply.
They don't want to annoy the citizens, unless they are into "suicide by 2nd Amendment."
This ain't France, Francis. ;^)
problem is that theyve been poorly trained in the idea that even if not in uniform, that they are still gods [small g] and we are sposed to bow to their authority...under penalty of death because they are a more valuable asset to holy gubmint than a lowly preacher or plumber...
ha effn ha effn ha...
The reality is that if someone/something is shooting at me it is a threat. If a threat can't reasonably be escaped it becomes a target to me. When the shooting is over then we can discuss its relative characteristics. lol
That's exactly the way they're trained.
No revenue or public conditioning opportunity in that.
Police will lie to cover their own @ss like anybody else....(no obama) first hand experience
they do an honorable job but they aren’t infallible and are humans who have potential to abuse power
