There is actually about the same percentage of assholes among NFL players as among the general population. Check FR for proof as the numbers seem to hold across the board with most groups.
I’ve wondered how many in the NFL are in trouble with the law. I saw a list once of players in legal trouble in recent years. It was a small percentage of total NFL players, however, these guys are so high profile, that any of them getting arrested is big news.
I know Commissioner Goodell is concerned that these guys give the NFL a black eye.
Well, in any sport, if the big news headlines are for something off the field, that’s going to be bad news for your public image.
Lately I think FR has even a larger and growing share of Richard Craniums.
Bungles are the worst case ... proably had more thugs in one location than the entire league .... but even when you factor in all 32 teams you are looking at a very small percentage
It is the same old story ... the minority is ALWAYS the focus. Hmm think I’ve senthat in practice elsewhere. The BAD BOYZ of theNFL get the lamestream media coverage ... while those tha excel and go about doing ther job are ignored.
Sensationalism sells.... the american people are damn ignorant these days they cant figure out simple things for themselves.
Its the same thing the media does to the armed forces. Im reading a book called Stolen Valor, that deals with medai distortions on Viet Vets. The media talks about how x % of veterans are homeless or drug users, but doesnt report that the same % or even higher of the general population has the same issues.
