Democrats jittery as unpopular Congress returns
Reuters ^ | Sep 6, 2009 | Thomas Ferraro

Political survival will top the agenda for many lawmakers when the U.S. Congress returns to work on Tuesday, amid widespread voter discontent over its recent performance.

While the debates over healthcare reform, global warming and banking legislation and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will dominate the airwaves, the central issue for many in Congress will be how to keep their seats.

Polls show only about one-third of Americans approve of how lawmakers are doing, less than a year after President Barack Obama led Democrats to big gains in Congress. Republicans now have an opportunity to strike back in the 2010 election.

Surveys find voters have a dim view of both parties, but history suggests Obama's Democrats face greater risks.

"There's a lot of discontent out there and when that's the case the party in power pretty inevitably gets the blame," said Dean Debnam of Public Policy Polling, a private firm.

Democrats now are expected to lose seats in the House of Representatives in the November, 2010 election though not enough to surrender control, analysts say. Democrats currently have 256 seats in the House versus 178 for the Republicans. There is one independent.

Democrats had been expected to increase their majority in the U.S. Senate but may lose a few seats. Democrats reached 60 this year, giving them the number needed to override Republican procedural hurdles.

I would be a HUGE mistake for America to replace a Democrat with a Republican. America would be better off voting for ANY thrid party candidate. That is the only way to send a message to Congress at this point.

Come again?

Might not be perfect, but I'll replace a Democrat with a Republican any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Republicans now have an opportunity to strike back in the 2010 election.
Surveys find voters have a dim view of both parties, but history suggests Obama's Democrats face greater risks.
Voters still have no idea what Republicans stand for.
The only way this will change is if there is a shake-up in the House GOP leadership.
It is time for John Boehner to step aside and let Mike Pence take over the Minority Leader position.
Boeh presided over back to back historic Republican losses in the House. It is insane that the Republicans would continue to allow him to lead their members in the House after that.
Boehner is about as charasmatic and inspiring as an old gym sock.
To be a leader, you need to inspire people to follow you. Boehner does not do that.
Mike Pence does.

The right leadership delivering the right message will make the difference whether or not Republicans seize the opportunity before them in 2010.

3rd Parties do not generally win elections. That said, this is not a normal circumstance.

It is time for a “Sea Change” within both Parties, there are Traitors in both Parties. And regardless of what label a Traitor to the Country wears, he is still a Traitor and deserves the appropriate punishment.

The problem now is that the Public is not sufficiently informed because of the Traitors in the Networks to understand the Peril the Nation is in.

The solution can begin now, not in 2010. 10th Amendment efforts at the State level and outright defiance of Federal laws that exceed the Federal Government’s authority under the Constitution are necessary. Not all State Governments will participate, yet.

The battle will be fought in 2010 at the Congressional District level, not at the Party level.

I am compiling a enemies list of those who by their voting record deserve to be removed from office. Began yesterday, and at this point only have the votes on 2 recent issues in the spreadsheet.

The alarm bells have been sounded and it is time to let these cretin know we mean to remove them from office. That is right, offenders in both parties.

If you vote Third party you will end up with years of commie rule! It is time for the conservative wing of the Republican party to take over and kick the rinos to the curb! Palin!

Yes, kick the RINO’s to the curb, and the Commies butts out of office. And then pursue them to the gates of Hell.

That is where I started yesterday.

What else needs to be added now?

I would be a HUGE mistake for America to replace a Democrat with a Republican. America would be better off voting for ANY thrid party candidate. That is the only way to send a message to Congress at this point.

Peter Schiff says he's running on the GOP ticket against Chris Dodd if he gets enough financial and other support in the coming months because he wants to win. He won't have a chance on a third party ticket and he knows it. He also knows if he did go third party, it would splinter the voter and re-elect Dodd--something he does not want.

Matt Daly is running against Joe Courtney for Connecticut's 2nd district. He's a Republican constitutionalist who has made a point of attending Tea Parties.

These are the good guys. Both have a good chance to pick up two seats in liberal Connecticut for the Republican party.

Why on earth would I vote third party?

Thanks for the enemies list! Add the commie judges and media people, educators etc. and the list will be comprehensive and complete. All of the individuals need to be removed from office or at the very least rendered ineffective! Burning a copy for later reference.

I intend to expand it to all recent pivotal votes. This is the first draft. If you noticed the links for the names are live links to a profile page from data source.

TF,

Will you list be national and will you share it with us?

Yes the likes of Glenn have opened our eyes to the weasels in the GOP which is useless at this point. But we are now looking for conservatives that are RIPAO's: Republicans in Party Affiliation Only.

I am really liking Mrs. Medina from Texas, what do you know about her?

Yeah, let’s keep trying that third party thing. It has done well for us so far. Right!

Of course I plan to update and share this. It is not my work, but excerpts form the source listed in the live links.

My question is what other legislation need to be added to give a clear picture of who the enemies are?

About Mrs. Medina, I had never heard of her before the Austin 10th Amendment gathering last weekend. I watched video’s of her at that gathering, and she has the fire in the belly. I still know absolutely nothing about her, and that makes me very very cautious.

I think she is the reason that Rick Perry did not participate in the gathering. Feel he sensed he was being ambushed. Governor “Rick” is from my county, and we are close to the same age. (he is slightly younger) I know his father, served with him at the State Republican Convention. I have never met Rick.

Rick has had a history of backing bad causes: Trans Texas Corridor, Guardisil, etc. But that said he did say what needed to be said at the San Antonio Tea Party. At this time I plan to vote for him.

Might not be perfect, but I'll replace a Democrat with a Republican any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Even McCain or Snowe? Unless the Republicans want to go the way of the Mastadon and the Dodo Bird, they need to run conservatives and kick out the RINOs.

Exactly, it hasn’t and it won’t. I spent years wishin and hopin for it but it isn’t going to happen. Reality Bites! Get used to it unless you want to stay mired in the quicksand of 6 to 7% of the electorate.
