Our elementary schools have sent home a message that they just can't fit Mr. Obama’s speech into the busy schedule. they gave 5 reasons. Two reasons were, 1. It is grandparents day so the children are already distracted. and 2. the speech would be at 12 noon and they did not want to (let anything ruin the children's lunch.) No actually, they said that they have tried lunch hour stuff before but the kids just do not listen, so it would be a waste of time. The administration said that if an individual teacher felt her/his class needed to see this that they could, but the students could opt out.
