The key point about the Van Jones affair is what it tells us about Barack Obama. Jones isn't someone who slipped through the cracks of the vetting process. We know this because, as Scott pointed out earlier today, top Obama aide Valerie Jarrett has said, "So, Van Jones, we were so delighted to be able to recruit him into the White House; we were watching him. . .for as long as he's been active out in Oakland."
Having watched the rise of Van Jones, why did Team Obama nonetheless "recruit" him into the White house? Because what Jones says and believes is well within the range of what Obama believes, and thus not jarrring to him and his crew.
If Jones is now beyond the pale, it is only because the Obama crowd finally hears him through the filter of a controversy. When Obama and company heard him only through the filter of what they believe, there was no controversy because his statements -- e.g., his attack on Israeli "occupation" dating back to 1948 and his claim that "U.S. tax dollars are funding violence against people of color inside the U.S. borders and outside the US borders" -- are not particularly controversial to Team Obama.
This, of course, is the Rev. Jeremiah Wright phenomenon all over again. Wright's racist, anti-Israeli, anti-American statements didn't jar Obama while he was sitting in Wrights's church for 20 years because they were not that different from what Obama believes. Even when controversy erupted and Obama's political future was on the line, Obama at first found Wright's pronouncements no more in need of being "disowned" than his grandmother's view that she'd rather be driven to work than be panhandled by an aggressive man at the bus station. It took a shot by Wright at Obama himself to jar cause the candidate to break with his spiritual mentor.
The Jones phenomenon signifies that, as my friend Bill Otis likes to say, the left "can't hear itself." That's why when it heard Jones, all it detected was "creative ideas" and "energy" to bring to the White House.
To quote Bill again, "Van Jones is simply Jeremiah Wright behind a White House desk."
YEAH...I was thinking of sending out a message to people I know who voted for OBOMBA....saying...YOU BEEN PWNED!
I am ashamed to HAVE someone like that in the White House, but I did all I could to try and tell people what they were getting if they voted Obama, but they all laughed at me.
I am not ashamed personally for electing him as I had nothing to do with that. And I am not sure any Obama voter can feel shame as long as they worship at the altar of intellectual superiority and have the mockers of news and TV on their sides each night, telling them how right they are and how idiotic we are.
Obama is a racist and black nationalist with a touch of Bumpy Johnson. Said something similar on here before the election and got called Archie Bunker.
Exactly. They don't even really need to hide it.
The good thing is that this is separating the two halves of Obama voters. The feel-good-cause-he's-black voters (of any race) will come around. They didn't sign up for this. Even some of the mainstream media will eventually have to come around, or they will simply wither. Obviously the far left are ecstatic with him still.
There are many great Americans who are black who are NOT with Obama and his racist team (MOST black Americans are real Americans and are not racists) .
We must be careful not to fall prey to the same kind of hatred Obama and his crowd are preaching.
"Black Americans - 95% of black voters went to the ballot for Obama and only 4% for McCain..."
Let me in on your juggling techniques. My personal best was four bean bags and a running chain saw, but you've eclipsed me.
Obama is Jeremiah Wright behind the White House desk.
BBTTT.
I don’t see anyone here doing that and frankly your remark is a bit patronizing and insulting. It is time to SPEAK WITHOUT FEAR AND SPEAK THE TRUTH! I refuse to be intimidated by the race baiting pimps in this world.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
Couldn’t agree more. Ever since we found out about jones, I’ve been thinking about wright, a lot. Coincidently, wright was on TMZ either yesterday or the day before. He declared oprah an entertainer, not a social activist type of person. Maybe that’s why she left his church. (At least I read that she use to be a memmber)
Van Jones - Falling Czar
I am a Southern Whitey but my family and I have MANY black friends going back generations.
As a child (and though I was manor born), I worked in the fields with big black men who were always kind despite the fact that grown white men still treated them like slaves.
I don't know all black people but I know enough men and women of that race to say that although they are human like you and me...they are also capable of the finest qualities of humanity.
Obama's goal is to win by spreading hatred...if we become racist like Obama (if we succumb to his hatred), then he has won and we have lost.
Oh yeah, tmz said the found out wright was in washington..didn’t say why.
The Devil is spreading hatred...and you think you can somehow beat him at his own game.
Our only hope is to resist the seductiveness of racism (which is nothing but hatred aimed on the basis of race...could be because of any other quality).
Is that patronizing and insulting?
Some of my best friends are whom the likes of “racism” obsessed you would call “racist”! (Incidentally, “racism”, not in your 100 year old dictionary, was invented by those pesky Soviets. But that’s all right, it’s ours now, and we love it, don’t we?!)

Yes, as a matter of fact. You're the one on this thread who is making race an issue.
Obama's goal is to win by spreading hatred...if we become racist like Obama (if we succumb to his hatred), then he has won and we have lost.
Are you implying that I'm a racist?
Blacks voted for Obama because he suckered them...they voted for family and bloodline...<
So all of the Colin Powells, Harry Belafontes, Rev. Wright's, that little Harvard punk, Oprah, they're all sweet gullible innocents taken in by the slick talking long-legged Mack Daddy. Just couldn't help themselves.
You're implying that the 95% of American blacks that voted for Obama.
Like I said I can juggle, but your juggling of numbers and conclusion is just plain awesome.
My point is that we should not succumb to the racism of the enemy...explain how that is racist?
You over-rate yourself. Why should I give a sh!t one way or another about your inclination...that's for you to figure out.
You're implying that the 95% of American blacks that voted for Obama.
Try that in a complete sentence so I can understand what you intended to say.
What would you expect from a Crypto-Marxist and Black Nationalist to do after all these years; uphold the very Constitution which has allowed freedom for everyone, no this does not support the objective of absolute power. As David Horowitz has pointed out, every radical is bigoted, opposed to America and must destroy/over-through the system and its foundations with the goal to obtain power and control without caring about the result; as long as they have the power! To prove such, watch what is done to real people, not what is said.
