I think his recent behavior has made him a liability to the causes he’s promoting, because it’s more likely to drive people away from belief in those causes, than towards them. Those of us who are already firmly committed to fighting socialism — whether it’s naionalized health care, the “fairness doctrine”, or whatever — aren’t going to be swayed by him, even if we don’t like his current tone. But we don’t matter. What matters is the potential converts to the cause — the people who aren’t really sure what they think about these issues. Those people are less likely to develop a belief in and commitment to these causes, if they see them expoused by someone who’s behaving like a smarmy televangelist, or if they hear their friends ridiculing specific comments which he really has made. We can only advance our political goals by drawing new people into sharing them, and that’s what Beck is no longer doing (though I think he *has* done quite a bit of it in the past, and I certainly hope he resumes doing it soon).
I see so now that MORE people are watching him your assertion is that less people are following him...
