Advertisers Continue to abandon Glenn Beck after Pundit had called President Obama a 'Racist'

Mercedes-Benz, Capital One, HSBC, Discover and seven other big firms are yanking their ads from Beck's show, boycott organizers said Wednesday.

"We applaud those companies that have recently pulled their support from Beck," James Rucker, executive director of ColorOfChange.org, said Wednesday.

"There are at least 57 companies who will not tolerate Beck's race-baiting comments."

The African-American political group went after Beck for declaring on his July 28 show that Obama is a racist with a "deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture."

About 145,000 members signed a petition asking Beck's advertisers to stop supporting him. And big companies like retailing giant Wal-Mart, Procter & Gamble, GMAC Financial Services, Best Buy, CVS and Travelocity complied.

Yes , well i too know how ad placement works. If a client of mine refuses to run in specific time slots , they don't run. If i purchase time on the Super Bowl that's where it runs. If i place a political ad on the nightly mews that's where it runs. No one drops millions on tv ads to have them run at 4 am while their competitor runs in prime time. . That is why networks spend big money to promote certain bell cow programs. I don't know about becks sales figure's either , i do know from what i have seen , his time slot is full. If the clients objected it would not be the case. At any rate , as i mentioned before , this story appeared here days ago as a piece from the Chronicle.

Beck has been going overboard lately. I basically agree with most of his positions, but he’s taken to expressing them in the a way that smacks of paranoia and dogmatism.

It's only paranoia if it isn't true -- Glenn is playing us video/audio of these Commie/Marxist/Socialists in their own words, they failed to learn the lesson of Nixon: never let it be recorded on tape.

Everything people warned about back last fall is coming to pass, there is no infiltration of the White House here, 0bama's own *good friend* said they recruited Jones to his position. The only reason Ayres didn't get a presidential appointment is that he was discovered, uncovered before Election Day -- any coincidence that his partner in the Weather Underground, Jeff Jones, did get the presidential appointment?

I'd like to get Colin Powell on record, ask him how he feels having an avowed Communist in the White House advising the president -- just what does that say about 0bama's judgment, eh Powell? And McCain, he told people at one of his campaign rallies they had nothing to worry about in an 0bama presidency, "He's a good man" -- what is his take on the discovery that C/M/S are all in the highest levels of the administration, their plan to fundamentally transform this nation, "Change the system!" spelled out in no uncertain terms, no problem with that?

Speaking out is great, but sounding like a basket-case doesn’t help the cause. I’ve liked Beck in the past, but haven’t liked his recent shift in tone, and hope he changes back to his previous demeanor. He’s not making any new converts with the way he’s speaking now, and making new converts is the only way to shift the political direction of the nation.

Almost nobody watches Hardball, Maddow, Ed Shultz, and yet these shows stay on the air. They are almost like NPR in that no one is tuned in. What gives?

I've been wondering the same thing. Plus, Olbermann gets paid $9 million a year. I know a woman who watches Olbermann, and she's been brainwashed by him. She thinks Glenn Beck is despicable, even though she's never watched the program.

Beck sometimes comes off as someone who drank too much caffeine.

That's not caffeine, it's sugar.

Seriously, that's just his personality, his method of delivering the message at times.

What did Beck say that was race-baiting? That Obama was racist? That’s his opinion. What happened to free speech?

The thing is, he used 0bama's own words to support his contention -- tell me, how else were we to take the "typical white person, it's bred into them" from 0bama??

My 18yr old grandson comes over at 5pm each night to watch Glenn Beck with me. He then tells his mother what was said because she repeats it to me.

He's off to Drexel U later this month but he'll know what's going on in the world....that's for sure!

No one drops millions on tv ads to have them run at 4 am while their competitor runs in prime time

Of course not, but there certainly are advertisers who opt for lower rates for non-specific prime time slots, instead of paying higher rates to be guaranteed to run on a specific program. Depending on the particular business, and the profile of its potential customers, it doesn't necessarily make sense to pay the premium for specific program slots. And yes, advertisers can opt out of certain programs, but that will generally cost them more than just open ad purchases for a specific time range. My point was only that you can't tell what advertisers are specifically supporting or rejecting a particular program, just by noting what ads you see or don't see during that program.

Beck will gone the end of the year.”

I got a thousand backs that says you are wrong on that one buddy. Rush Limbaugh is still around and stronger than he's ever been, no? What hasn't the loonly left done to try and stop him?
Here's another bet I am gonna take you on with though: That Van Jones is gone by the end of the year.
In the battle between Van Jones and Glenn Beck, there is going to be only one winner: Beck.

I agree that Glenn has been emotional lately, but it doesn't really bother me. He's a good person. The mainstream media doesn't complain about Olbermann, who is a hateful, despicable, and ruthless person on Obama's side.

You are watching a different Glenn Beck than I am.

Dravo!
You have repeated the loony left talking points from Daily Kos and DUmmyland with great aplomb.
The Glenn Beck I see, shows no fear of anybody, sounds quite comfortable with himself, is full of fun and vigour, has a great sense of humor(You should see his “Happy birthday “tribute” to 0bama. It was a hoot!) and looks like a really happy guy to me.
He “lacks objectivity” huh?
Listen, his program is not a news program. It's a program about his opinions. If you wanna see the point of view of Van Jones, the communist, you can always go watch MSNBC, no?

I thought I was pessimistic, but you’re worse. Glenn will stay on the air unless he, personally, decides to go off.

Jones thinks that he can shut down Beck through his political organizing, but all he has done is stir up a hornet’s nest.”

Glenn Beck has Jones reeling, on the ropes, and running for cover. He can run but he can't hide. Seems to me Beck is destroying Van Jones here, not the other way round.

I think he’s a good person too. I just don’t think his recent tone is aiding the causes he believes in.

As for Olbermann, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen/heard him, and from what I’ve heard, I don’t think I want to.

Fox needs to dump O’Reilly

That won't happen. O'Reilly is highly rated and makes a lot of money for the FNC. I watch O'Reilly every night, and he says a lot of things that drive liberals nuts. Plus, he blasts NBC all the time. O'Reilly calls himself an independent, but he also has quite a few conservative opinions. I disagree with him sometimes, but I still watch him.

” but recently he’s morphed into something that’s more of a liability than an asset”

Liability to who exactly?
Beck near single handedly took on 0bama’s genocidal czars, and made them an issue. His ratings are through the roof. He is a hero to townhall 0bamacare protesters everywhere, and is mentioned constantly in their protests. One Republican congressman who dared to say the same things that you are saying about Beck, at his townhall meeting was booed and ridiculed by his constituents.
I think you are out of touch with reality.
