Wow! I didn’t know Flipper was on the menu in Japan. They are great consumers of whale meat, so it makes sense.
But our seafood menus say “mahi-mahi” instead of “dolphin” so nobody will think they’re eating Flipper.
Anyway, this article is pure eco-nut propaganda.
Mahi-mahi is dolphin, the fish, and I do believe the article is talking about dolphin, the aquatic mammal.
Two different animals, literally.
Mahi-Mahi is often called “dolphin fish’” but is not actaully a dolphin or a mammal.
One is Flipper
One is dinner
they are not the same.
You scared me there, but I double checked again and it turns out that mahi-mahi is a fish not a mammal.

I think the Japan version really is Flipper, rather than the fish served in the States. Another unusual thing served in Japan is whale meat (from non endangered species).
