FairTax to Launch National Multimedia Campaign for Passage in Congress
Americans For Fair Taxation ^ | September 4, 2009

Posted on 09/05/2009 5:59:08 AM PDT by Man50D

We have exciting news: The Americans For Fair Taxation Board has authorized the launch of a coordinated multimedia campaign for passage of the FairTax in the U. S. Congress.

In announcing the campaign launch, FairTax Chairman Leo Linbeck declared that, “Never in our lifetimes has our country more badly needed the economic boom and the immediate and robust creation of private sector jobs up and down the American economy which the FairTax would create. Never have more Americans been convinced that federal taxation is unfair, corrupt and dominated by special interest lobbyists, politicians and power brokers. Never has hunger for truly meaningful, unifying change, and the need for this change been greater than now. This is the ideal time in our history to press on every front for Congressional passage of the FairTax Bill in Congress, and the repeal of the 16th Amendment, thereby eliminating the scourge of the IRS and the income tax forever.”

Over 25 million voters will be targeted in the first phase of the FairTax National Campaign. Voters across the political spectrum will be asked by a number of prominent FairTax supporters to Petition the President, their Senators and Member of the House of Representatives to demand passage of the FairTax.

Supporters will also be asked to become dues-paying, card-carrying Members of Americans for Fair Taxation and will receive special updates including this new, “FairTax Friday” newsletter and will be encouraged to work together with one voice to create overwhelming pressure on Congress and the White House.

Both traditional and new media methods of enlisting supporters will be used, including direct mail, email, Website ads, social networking, and telephoning. An important part of the media blitz will be to enlist enough voters as dues paying Member of American for Fair Taxation to enable the campaign to expand to television and radio.

You know how badly our nation needs the huge economic boom that will be created by the passage of FairTax: The elimination of all Federal income taxes, Social Security, payroll, capital gains, death and other taxes. You know this will bring at least trillions of dollars into our economy creating desperately needed private sector jobs in every area of the nation and result in at least a generation-long economic boom all across our country. You know how much fairer it will be when each of us has the freedom to decide for ourselves when, where and how we pay federal taxes by our consumption decisions. And you already know that by taxing everyone, including 12 to 20 million illegal immigrants, those profiting from the $1.5 trillion-a-year underground cash economy and those gaming our tax system through gimmicks and loopholes, our tax system will be infinitely more fair and require far less of each of us. You know that by putting the IRS out of the business of interfering with our individual freedom and privacy forever we will move our nation back toward the principles upon which it was founded and from which we have wandered so far. You know we need to end the reign of fear and power by the special interest lobbyists, political power brokers and tax lawyers and accountants who have so badly damaged our nation. And, finally, you know how badly small businesses, the main generators of new private sector jobs, innovation and economic growth, are hurt by the mountain of paperwork, filings and accounting costs our impossibly complex, 67,500 pages of tax code regulations imposes upon them.

Now we must bring this message to the tens of millions of Americans who are so ready to receive this message and take action!

You will be hearing a lot about the FairTax multimedia launch in the weeks ahead.

If you are not yet a proud card-carrying Member of Americans For Fair Taxation, and wish to join, please click here.

all we need now is a Fair Tax Czar. you are tilting at windmills FairTaxers...

could you imagine the obamanation this present President and Congress would make of your already deeply flawed plan?

they would keep all the bad parts and strip out all the good parts, and leave the income tax in place since we are in an emergency...

Here again we see a complex formula with deductions for this and that which will just leave the door open to more political game playing

What we really should have is a flat national sales tax that applies to every single thing that moves in commerce.

Drugs, food, industrial supplies, whatever.

Nothing is more easily understood than our state sales tax and the federal tax could be just as simple.

Obama drools at the prospect and political mana of the fair tax’s monthly wealfare check. You just had a pork of $4500 for used car and a host of other pork projects from a congress which has put us in debt for 12 TRILLION and is in terror of reeelction. They will not just give a “pre bate” they will demand a “living prebate” which will pay for all lobbist campaign donor solicited necessities.

With Congress set to take up amnesty in January, do we really want them giving away “free money”?

(if anything they would keep both income and sales tax AND welfare check....for the children)

To what Tax system are you referring? It certainly isn't The Fair Tax. The Fair Tax will be a flat national sales tax as it will apply only one tax rate at the point of sale. No formula and no tax forms to fill out.

with a constitutional cap on the effective tax.

NOBODY’s cumulative tax rate should be more than 20%. Cumulative as ALL taxes combined. NO total sales tax should be more than 5% (state and federal)

It's about time!

We will never again be a truly FREE people for so long as we continue to endure the current, communist inspired, income tax system.

That system, in it's entirety, needs to be thrown onto the ash heap of history and replaced with something more befitting a FREE people and there is no better method for doing that currently on the table than the FairTax!

And that would be the best expected result... a complete disaster.

Exactly.

Who on FR would possibly be so vocal against sales tax or flat tax?

Accountants.

Tax lawyers.

Professional lobbies.

Other various forms of public leeches.

if anyone thinks this fair tax scam is immune from lobbyists then they are delusional.

Just wait for the “living prebate.”

This scam has always been a scam just as t boon picken’s wind farms were a scam.

Accountants and tax lawyers will not suffer under this.

It will just create new ways to work around the issue of being taxable. Of course with internet, there will be a boom of overseas buying.

The fair tax scam should be outright abandoned in favor of a true flat tax with an absolute constitutional cap.

Right on.

But we have too many “suits” in congress and too few with the guts to make the change.

You have just won the “JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS AWARD”

The formula is to determine your PREBATE. NOT your taxes. If you don’t want a PREBATE (like a rebate only you don’t have to pay first and get part of it back, you pay NOTHING and just get a CHECK)then don’t apply for one.

It is so the poor (and the rest of us) get a credit so that the poor essentially pay no taxes. Study up on the fair tax BEFORE you go and BLOVIATE about it. Its been around for a very long time (1994). Wikipedia actually has a very indepth description and history on it. And there is always the fair tax website and the Neil Bortz/John Linder book.

The “Fair Tax” is just what or economy needs, it will never happen. And I can’t think of a WORSE time to promote it, with all that is going on rigt now. It will get lost in the shuffle.

The FairTax Act (HR 25, S 296) is nonpartisan legislation. It abolishes all federal personal and corporate income taxes, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, and self-employment taxes and replaces them with one simple, visible, federal retail sales tax administered primarily by existing state sales tax authorities.

The FairTax taxes us only on what we choose to spend on new goods or services, not on what we earn. The FairTax is a fair, efficient, transparent, and intelligent solution to the frustration and inequity of our current tax system.

The FairTax:

Enables workers to keep their entire paychecks
Enables retirees to keep their entire pensions
Refunds in advance the tax on purchases of basic necessities
Allows American products to compete fairly
Brings transparency and accountability to tax policy
Ensures Social Security and Medicare funding
Closes all loopholes and brings fairness to taxation
Abolishes the IRS

the best place to read about the fair scam is at the http://www.thomas.gov website. It is the library of congress website where all pending bills can be read.

just look up “flat tax” or “fair tax”

IN THE TEXT OF THE BILL

you will see:

-mandatory registration of all participants in the ecconomy
-FEDERAL determination of what is “a family”
-FEDERAL REGISTRATION of all families to get the monthly welfare check.
-Federal determination of what is a “necessity” (did you like cash for clunkers? just wait to see what else becomes a congressional “necessity”)
-IRS abolished? HA! it is just given a new name and new powers to do the same job. (NuIRS: with new and improved porkulus!)

read the actual text of the bill and not the BS propaganda.

Americans take home their whole paychecks.

The prebate makes the FairTax progressive.

No tax on used goods. The amount you pay to fund the government is totally visible.

Retail prices no longer hide corporate taxes or compliance costs, which together drive up costs for those who can least afford to pay.

The income tax exports our jobs, rather than our products. The FairTax brings jobs home.

The FairTax strategy is revenue neutral:

Tax criminals don’t make criminals out of honest taxpayers.

You have a pretty sharp tongue.

If you had a sharp mind to go along with it, you might have noticed that:

When you have a formula that allows a “prebate”, you have the potential for the same crappy tax system we have today.

It will start off fairly straightforward just as our present tax did many many years ago, pre WWII.

So we give a prebate to the poor. Who is poor?

Then we notice that there are other “deserving” amongst us who have been wounded by the tax system, so we add them to the prebate list.

After all, the original formula already includes those with kids in college, mortgages, etc. Hmmm..who have we overlooked that needs tax relief?

You have conveniently overlooked all of the deductions for mortgage payments, loans, tuition, on and on that are in the formula.

Not only does this leave the door wide open for the same use of the tax code for SOCIAL ENGINEERING we have today, it will require the same number of tax accountants and tax lawyers that we have today.

The link is seductive in that it says to use estimated figures to calculate your potential tax under the Fair Tax system, but in the real world when it comes time to file under the FT system, you will have to use the same care in arriving at your numbers that you do under the present system.

Anyone who thinks this is going to ease their tax burden in living in a dream world.

The only way is a sales tax that applies to every single living and breathing soul, every industry, every profession and works exactly the same as our state sales taxes.

And the idea of a cap of 20% total on the entire tax burden is a good one. States will be forced to work a balance out between themselves and the federal government.
