(snip)
There is some Republican support for reform. Obama, Napolitano and Sen. John McCain share virtually the same immigration views. The president and McCain reportedly have been speaking in private on the issue. The Arizona Republican has been a leader for comprehensive reform, and with the improvement in enforcement, he now has all the political cover he needs to return to the ramparts.

The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act (CIRA, S. 2611) was a United States Senate bill introduced in the 109th "Congress (2005-2006) by Sen. Arlen Specter [PA] on April 7, 2006. Co-sponsors, who signed on the same day, were Sen. Hagel [NE], Sen. Martinez [FL], Sen. McCain [AZ], Sen. Kennedy [MA], Sen. Graham [SC], and Sen. Brownback [KS]."[WIKI]

Because this simple task was not done we have nothing less than a foreign invasion. Results will be the same. Loss of our culture, language....the American way of life. We're losing it right now. I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT TRAITORS we have for Representatives.

I think McCain knows his pink slip is in the folder and this is his opportunity to knife us as his parting gift but all along hoping for the Hispanic vote to keep his seat. I don’t care about his service, he’s a traitor, IMO. It’s all about what’s good for him and not USA. I hope AZ voters make him wear the pink slip, the wuss that he is.

I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT TRAITORS we have for Representatives. Preach it! And on BOTH sides of the aisle. For me, those who pose as opposition (who pose as Conservatives) are far worse than the opposition itself. And the unvarnished hypocrisy, even here on FR with regard to that astonishes me.

Kennedy was the only Democrat to co-sponsor that steaming heap of Comprehensive Reform. The GOP: The Stupid Party.

Typically, acceptance of all immigration declines during recessions and depressions. Roosevelt didn't allow the Jews Hitler put a ship out of Hamburg to enter the US in the 30's, due to the high unemployment (we now know we caused by his own policies, Dem's screwing the Jews goes back way before Lewinsky).
Could Bambi pick a worse time to re-launch this issue? I really don't think so, with the people at fever pitch already and the economy continuing to decline with no end in sight.
Bring it on, Barry.

Perfect timing. Amnesty will provide coverage to millions otherwise cut off in the health bill. And there most certainly will be federaly mandated abortion coverage, without regard to religious convictions.
All to be paid at the expense of seniors who have been ripped off with a tax that now will be used to kill them off by rationing health care. And Social Security is next on the list to go. Few people know that the Social Security Act can be abolished by Congress.
Section 1104 of the 1935 Act, entitled “RESERVATION OF POWER,” specifically said: “The right to alter, amend, or REPEAL any provision of this Act is hereby reserved to the Congress.” Emphasis mine.
That was upheld by the Supreme Court in FLEMMING V. NESTOR 363 U.S. 603 (1960).

Amnesty for illegals?
Yeah, that's the ticket to Obama getting his approval ratings back up there.

He was the only one of the Keating 5 to profit personally from doing Keating’s bidding In that case, was he Keating's buttboy? If he was Charlie Keating's buttboy, how could he be Soros's buttboy?
Cleaning up the disparaging references, make that "person of butt" instead.

McCain is a Soros butt-boy and corrupt.
The fact that the GOP ran a Soros “butt boy” (that is a fact...he and his Reform Institute is funded by Geroge Soros) and a treasonous pro-illegal alien McCain means that the GOP has fallen more than anyone thinks.
Now that he has challengers in the Arizona GOP primary....wonder what excuses faux-cons will create to vote for pro-Soros, pro-illegal alien John McCain?

What all this means is that it is now time for political leaders in both parties to take the debate away from the shrill extremists and give what upward of two-thirds of all Americans repeatedly tell pollsters they want, in addition to enforcement: Bring the roughly 12 million unauthorized immigrants out of the shadows by offering earned legalization that requires they undergo background checks, learn English and pay taxes; and expand temporary work programs that meet future needs for immigrant workers. So, this 'journalist' is telling us that 2/3 of U. S. citizens favor a path to citizenship for 12 million illegal aliens? The polls I've seen over many years say that 2/3 and more oppose amnesty for illegals and want all immigration laws enforced.
This clown is definitely working to help set up another false set of assumptions to justify another run at amnesty for illegals.

What can you say against this idea? Ill start with 9.7%
The author of this piece is obviously getting his talking points from the administration by using the 'our economy needs them' nonsense. Stimulus, healthcare and immigration all necessary because 'our economy needs them'.

Of all the things Obama wants to do, immigration “reform” is by far the MOST IMPORTANT. The 12M number batted arounded for illegals is way low—its at least 2X that. Unlike even 10 years ago, I now see people who are obviously illegals wherever I go. If Obama can quickly increase the voter rolls by 30M+ (for starters), then he has stacked the deck for any future legislation. Congress can ignore the “Town Hall” anger with impunity. Immigration reform has always been the center of gravity for Obama’s agenda.
