In the Politico today, Secretary Gates admonishes the AP for publishing a photo of Lance Corporal Joshua Bernard dying in Afghanistan:
Defense Secretary Robert Gates is objecting in the strongest terms to an Associated Press decision to transmit a photograph showing a mortally wounded 21-year-old Marine in his final moments of life, calling the decision appalling and a breach of common decency.
The AP reported that the Marines father had asked in an interview and in a follow-up phone call that the image, taken by an embedded photographer, not be published.
AP reported in a story that it decided to make the image public anyway because it conveys the grimness of war and the sacrifice of young men and women fighting it.

EDITOR'S NOTE
Although the Associated Press chose to distribute a photo of Lance Cpl. Joshua M. Bernard taken shortly after he was mortally wounded, we believe that running the photo would be in poor taste and have chosen not to run it."
Ahah, so there are decent editors!
And if you want to see what happens when a lefty gets on the bad side of Matt, search the term:

This Marine and the freedom he stood for means nothing to the commie piggies at the Ass. Press. All they care about is themselves and how much money they are making.
I love it that so many people these days are seeing the media for what they are.

God Bless You!
I would suggest you dig into Julie Jacobson (the AP Photojournalist) and her family, via facebook, myspace, and twitter. See what you can find out and publish for the world to see.
Justify it as journalism and the public has a right to know.
Just saying.
Gee, had that RPG hit her square between her eyes:
1) Would she want someone there to record the good marksmanship of the Taliban?
or
2) How fast would the media propel her to instant Joe Rosenthal fame?

Well done.
Oh btw...
Saddam had a AP snitch (we already know CNN let people die without reporting so they could keep a spot there the first time in Iraq)
