That is the subject of the thread, and it does illustrate that it is possible for someone to misunderstand. One side must be misunderstanding.You are still misconstruing the context what I said.
So let me guess, if God speaks to someone and he says God says something differing from the dogma, then he didn't misunderstand God, and God didn't change policy, we just call him a false prophet and say God didn't actually speak to him.

God speaks to each of us, all the time.
Most do not listen, many choose to misconstrue the message, because it is inconvenient, and doesn't fit with what we 'want'.
Also, I think there is an important detail 'we' are leaving out.
God just didn't 'speak' to Moses, God 'appeared' to him. Is this not correct?
