Walter is a good host. I’m surprised we don’t have more posts by now.

I was busy giving blood. Most are probably busy listening.

Did I hear Sowell has a new book out about Fannie and Freddie?

Did you get the title?

Thanks!

I asked libturd coworker today, instead of asking What Would Jesus Do regarding health insurance; the libs should ask themselves WWTJ do? What would Thomas Jefferson do?

Obama calling himself an outsider and agent of change has CEO of Freddie Mac on his Pay Role. The fact is that he has received over 500,000 dollars from folks within Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac. Some of Obama’s biggest supporters come from within the Financials

Lehman Brothers collapse is traced back to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the two big mortgage banks that got a federal bailout a few weeks ago.

Freddie and Fannie used huge lobbying budgets and political contributions to keep regulators off their backs.

A group called the Center for Responsive Politics keeps track of which politicians get Fannie and Freddie political contributions. The top three U.S. senators getting big Fannie and Freddie political bucks were Democrats and No. 2 is Sen. Barack Obama.

Now remember, he’s only been in the Senate four years, but he still managed to grab the No. 2 spot ahead of John Kerry — decades in the Senate — and Chris Dodd, who is chairman of the Senate Banking Committee.

Fannie and Freddie have been creations of the congressional Democrats and the Clinton White House, designed to make mortgages available to more people and, as it turns out, some people who couldn’t afford them.

Fannie and Freddie have also been places for big Washington Democrats to go to work in the semi-private sector and pocket millions. The Clinton administration’s White House Budget Director Franklin Raines ran Fannie and collected $50 million. Jamie Gorelick — Clinton Justice Department official — worked for Fannie and took home $26 million. Big Democrat Jim Johnson, recently on Obama’s VP search committee, has hauled in millions from his Fannie Mae CEO job.

I remember thinking, “How the hell is Obama so high on their list getting money and he had barely stepped foot in the senate?”. At least it took over a decade for Dodd and and rest to get that amount. Yet the rubes feel for the spiel.

One Sunday, in counting the money in the weekly offering, the pastor of the Granville Presbyterian church found a pink envelope containing $1,000. It happened again the next week. The following Sunday, he watched as the offering was collected and saw a little old lady put the distinctive pink envelope in the plate. This went on for weeks until the pastor, overcome by curiosity, approached her.

“Ma’am, I couldn’t help but notice that you put $1,000 a week in the collection plate,” he stated.

“Why yes,” she replied, “every week my son sends me money, and I give some of it to the church.”

The pastor asked, “That’s wonderful, how much does he send you?”

The old lady replied, “$10,000 a week.”

The pastor was amazed. “Your son is very successful! What does he do for a living?”

“He is a veterinarian,” she answered.

“That is an honorable profession,” the pastor said. “Where does he practice?”

The little old lady said proudly, “In Nevada. He has two cat houses in Las Vegas and one in Reno .”

The parallels between the two (Hitler and 0) are frightening.

This book....and his "Basic Economics" book are great grad gifts, I give them to every student I know who is entering college. I have ALWAYS received good feedback from the kids. "Cosmic Justice" made a difference in my thinking years ago.

This caller is getting schooled.

What is wrong with living in apartments, indeed? I still live in one, and I’m not even fiscally irresponsible.
