WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Despite the drop in President Obama's approval ratings, Republican policies are still not as popular as Democratic policies, according to a new national poll. Fifty-two percent of people in CNN poll believe Barack Obama's policies will move country in right direction. A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Friday morning indicates the GOP has gained some ground in polls in recent months, but Democrats still hold the advantage on key issues such as the economy and health care. Fifty-two percent of people questioned say the president's policies will move the country in the right direction. An equal percentage feel the same way about the policies of the Democrats in Congress. What do Americans think of Republican policies? Forty-three percent say the GOP's policies will move the country in the right direction. Nearly half of those polled said congressional Republicans would move the country in the wrong direction.

Democrats still hold the advantage on key issues such as the economy and health care....?

Huh?....Where do they take these surveys?....Seven-11 at midnight?

The Republicans have got to get off their asses and produce clear alternatives to the democrats. How in hell can Obango's popularity go in the toilet and yet people think his parties policies on healthcare and the economy are better?

52% of the people at a CNN poll?

That should scare the hell out of him, b/c his numbers should be about 99% at CNN poll. That means even his faithful have fallen away from him.

CNN fictitious Polls! They are lieing! There is no way Obama is ahead in the polls with the Rasmussen and Zogby indicating that he is so low!

this screams bullsh*t propaganda poll.
It doesn’t match up with anything Rass or Zog have put out in the past 2 weeks.

Communist News Network at it again...

Yeah, really. If the Communist News Network can't poll him a landslide victory, then he IS in big trouble.
This poll has Republicans wiping democrats off the map.
(Now if only the Republicans would start representing their base....)

Anyone else view CNN polls as little more than propaganda? It’s as if they are saying, “Don’t worry, we’re still in control”. I don’t believe this poll for a second, especially when the poll of the generic Congress shows republicans up by 6% points, the highest its been in years.

Although I question any CNN poll, don't forget that the Bush presidency and what the GOP did to themselves during that time is still in people's minds.

If the GOP wants to attract lost voters like myself again, they need an enema. It's not just RINOs. Its the big government “conservatism” that the GOP adopted during the Bush years In my view, GWB was the biggest RINO of them all

Probably the biggest drawback in a Republican take over of the House is it would put Boehner back in the Speaker’s chair— no lesson learned....

What was the question? Something along the line of “Do you want more Free Stuff from the government?”

The Communist News Network can only squeeze out a paltry 52% of winos and the homeless and the university dead-enders who approve of BO? That certainly bodes ill for the Dem party’s prospects in ‘10.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll was conducted August 28-31, with 1,010 adult Americans questioned by telephone.

"Adults" are not the electorate. "Likely voters" are. Polls of adults produce more lefty results, which is why CNN, Gallup, the broadcast networks and the papers use them.

Rasmussen polls likely voters. He shows the GOP with a substantial lead in the generic ballot. I believe his polls not because I want to, but because I believe his methdology is sounder.
