Minn. Union Official Defends Obama Schools Speech

Minnesota's top teachers union official is urging schools to show President Barack Obama's live speech to students on Tuesday.

It's the first day of school for most Minnesota districts.

Dooher says some superintendents are getting pressure not to show the speech, and are even getting calls from parents threatening to keep their children home because they don't want them to watch what they view as a political message from the Democratic president.

Dooher says the speech shouldn't be taken as political. He says he expects it to focus on the importance of education.

A spokeswoman for the Minnesota Department of Education says it's up to local districts and school boards to decide whether to show the speech.

Calls to two districts weren't immediately returned.

"He says he expects it to"

I doubt it meets your expectations, buddy. But after all the attention, TOTUS probably changed the speech, much like Eddy Haskel would behave proper in front of Ward and June Cleaver

I remember when obama was new, 70% plus of the voters (living and dead) supported him, and the Volk infused him with their hopes and their dreams. That was a LONG time ago!

OFFICAL<—SINGULAR ONE PERSON - We have to start paying attention to the numbers....the difference between them in us -

1. They are loud, obnoxious and do not care how they get their agenda passes as long as they get their agenda passed.

2. They have the media who will not label them terrorist or thugs even though the Marxist use any means necessary to win.

3. Words and phrases are well thought out ... but remember numbers DO matter..

Minnesota's top teachers union official is urging schools to show President Barack Obama's live speech to students on Tuesday.

Take your official union title and blow it out your ass. People are beginning to understand who Barack Obama is, and they don't want any part of it. For that matter, people are starting to figure out who the unions are too.

And with that, all I can add is, I hope you guys know how to run fast...

It is interesting how all these educrat advocates of the speech seem to know the content of the speech and how benign the content. Where is the transcript? I did not see it.

He says he expects it to focus on the importance of education

Then how about allowing the students to actually get some education on a schoolday rather then forcing them tolistn to a windbag.

This is one of those great, teachable moments Obama loved so much when affirmative action professor Gates stirred up his controversy. This is chance for all American school kids to learn that they don’t have to listen to speeches from any damned politician, including the president, unless they (and their parents) freely choose to listen.

And no politician should ever be give a captive audience. Everyone has a right to free speech, but no one has a right to an audience.

Dooher is no dummy. Rather than teaching he’s moved on to head the union for something like $150,000 per year and a company car. Not bad while teachers are making far less.
