Rep. Rangel must step aside as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.
FOR POLITICIANS with major bad news to release or to make public, there's no time like the dead of August to do it. The thinking goes that the public won't remember a thing come September. We hope Rep. Charles B. Rangel (D-N.Y.) will have no such luck. His belated revelation of previously unreported income, property and bank accounts demands that he step aside as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.
Mr. Rangel's amended financial disclosure form, which exposes omissions from his 2002 through 2006 records, is a treasure trove of outrage. He neglected to report a checking account with the Congressional Federal Credit Union and one with Merrill Lynch, each valued between $250,000 and $500,000; the tens of thousands of dollars he's earning from dividends from a number of mutual funds and stocks; and the money made from the sale of a Harlem townhouse. As a result, Mr. Rangel's reported net worth doubled, from between $516,015 and $1,316,000 to between $1,028,024 and $2,495,000.

A LIBERAL rag demanding the black, greedy, hypocrite, Wrangle step down? Wowee! What's this world coming too? Will Sharpton be next? He has similiar problems ... not paying his taxes, fines, hiding income ... ?
That is not the same editorial
Rangel step aside? No way. Where he is he partly controls the investigation into himself. He is not going to let that get away from him. And Hussein isn’t going to try to knock him down. A powerful committee chairman in trouble is great for pushing ppresidential desires.
Yeah, I was really surprised when I read that
SPLAT! (me passing out, hitting floor)
I don’t believe it either. He will have to be pushed out by the voters. Hopefully they wake up
Whats wrong with you all. Don’t you know this is the most ethical congress ever? Why Nanners Pealoosei herself promised it would be! Now stop being hater racists and leave good Charlie the Rangler alone!
I assume flushing Charlie is like trying to flush Baraq.
When you poll 97% of these, how hard is it to get elected?
Dead voters
Minorities
Welfare recipients
Illegals
Union members
Idiot liberals
Your link goes to the same editorial on the Post website. Am I missing something here?
The Wash. Post is just trying to deflect attention from Hussien "Mugabe" Obama. The Wash. Post doesn't give a damn who's in charge of the Way's & Means Committee -- as long as its a leftist Demoncrat. They've ignored Rangel for a long time and now suddenly they've "got religion." I'm not moved by their newly found concern.
Imagine: Charles B. Rangel wearing an orange jumpsuit, handcuffed, financially destroyed and standing before a sentencing Judge..... and the prison bus is waiting outside.
Who do we call and demand his resignation?????
“Much is expected of elected officials. Much more is expected and demanded of those entrusted with chairmanships and the power that comes with them, especially when it involves the nation’s purse strings. From all that we’ve seen thus far, Mr. Rangel has violated that trust continually and seemingly without care.”
I never would have expected that from the Washington Post. Unfortunately, it falls short of calling on Rangel to resign.
Take the money and run, Charlie. Nobody in Harlem cares.
You're right. Perhaps their readership is in the toilet and the journalism bail out bill may not pass. Of course this would detract from government rationing health care. Yes, it's time to sacrifice Rangle in the name of “ethics”. LOL!!!!! They're ALL like him.
(I dont believe it either. He will have to be pushed out by the voters. Hopefully they wake up)
Are you kidding? When your constituents care only about “how much $ did you bring to us from the gob’ment”, what’s the probability that they will be getting rid of the chairman of the finance committee for ANY reason? Jeffries ($ in the fridge), Barbara Lee, or even McKinney are recent examples. On the white side of the fence, how about that lovable Ted Stevens from Alaska! Not enough voters still give a damn about their representative’s character.
Step aside? He needs to resign immediately.
