School districts from Maryland to Texas are fielding angry complaints from parents opposed to President Barack Obamas back-to-school address Tuesday forcing districts to find ways to shield students from the speech as conservative opposition to Obama spills into the nations classrooms.
The White House says Obamas address is a sort of pep talk for the nations schoolchildren. But conservative commentators have criticized Obama for trying to indoctrinate students to his liberal beliefs, and some parents call it an improper mix of politics and education.
The gist is, I want to see what the president has to say before you expose it to my child. Another said, This is Marxist propaganda. They are very hostile, said Patricia ONeill, a Democrat who is vice president of the Montgomery County School Board, in a district that borders Washington, D.C. I think its disturbing that people dont want to hear the president, but we live in a diverse society.
The White House moved Thursday to quell the controversy. First it revised an Education Department lesson plan that drew the ire of conservatives because it called for students to write letters about how they can help the president.
Then Obama aides said they would release the text of Obamas address on Monday, a day before his speech is to be beamed into the classrooms an apparent attempt to show skeptical parents ahead of time what he plans to say.

FAMOUS NOVELIST James Clavell wrote a chillingly-prophetic short story about the kind of brain-washing of the young that Team Obama is trying, under Chief Marxist Educator and Mad Bomber William Ayers — Obama’s mainstay and pal when they worked on deconstructionist “Juneteenth” programs for the Chicago Schools under Annenberg Foundation grant. Clavell’s story is called “The Children’s Story” and reads like the best of Ray Bradbury or George Orwell.

HOWEVER IT IS EQUALLY important to write every one of the school board members, the school superintendent and all school principals in your district — CC them all — and tell in no uncertain terms that to allow the program to be viewed in real time is absolutely inappropriate and give good reasons why.
Some Districts have already forbidden the real-time viewing of the speech. That is both wise and professional.
If only parents were as vigilant about what goes on in their children’s schools on a daily basis.
perhaps because the announcement indicated he was going to ask the children to think what they could do for him.
or perhaps its because people are waking up and realize he’s a communist.
It’s not a “pep talk.” It’s the kids responding to the president and his request for “help.”
The Georgia Dept of Education put out a notice today that viewing the speech is optional, that it was not consulted by the White House and school hours are valuable and not to be wasted. Well done!
Joe Sixpack calls this: "Caught red-handed."
In this day of the DVD, there was no need to bust into school time for this political rah-rah. I hope they show pieces of it in civics class as an example of how NOT to do things.
Quite so. Get the little kiddles used to smiling up at Dear Leader.
We could take it literally and send Obama petitions from kids for him to quit.
My kids are OUT. WE won’t allow it. They are my kids and I’m not going to permit political programing. We advised the school what our decision was. We will skip!!!!!!!!!!
“pep talk”? Right.
Obama: Can you say, “communism”, boys and girls? Shur, I knew ya could.
I think its disturbing that people dont want to hear the president, but we live in a diverse society.
Wake up, lady. And keep your racist comments to yourself.
Asking children what they can to to help HIM? This is America. He still thinks everything is about him.
JFK said, “ask not what your country can do for you, but, what YOU can do for your COUNTRY.” Notice he didn’t say what you can do for me.
obama the commie strikes again.
